There was a noticeable buzz and energy in the arena for the G'town game.  I do think it impacted the team in a positive manner. Kudos MU fans, keep it up!

It definitely had moments, especially in the second half. To be honest, I was pretty happy with the turnout for the students given the break.

Good win!
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Yep,  the lower bowl was full, and about 1/3 of the upper deck. To be fair,  though,  there were a few fans that looked older or younger than your typical college student.
Have some patience, FFS.

The be a student break package seemed to work. Theres not a noticeable gap anymore.

Yeah,  we took advantage of the sitting in the student section package (I am not a student) and it was a great idea.  We had good seats and it made sure the student section and the lower bowl stayed relatively full.

I imagine this will continue for the Seton Hall and DePaul games as well as that is also part of the package.

Goose

Very nice crowd last night. That is the type of atmosphere and game that will bring fans back to more games. Very enjoyable night across the board.

Have to add kudo's to Wojo for the Howard recruitment. Major improvement at the PG position and he is a player to build around. He and Rowsey are a nice tandem and very pleased with both of them.

The Lens

Great crowd.  I think the Be a Student deal was good + an announced time of 7:30pm is ideal.

I was not expecting such a robust lower bowl during break.  It was fun to see.  Lets keep this rolling.

More importantly, Howard should be at MU for 4 years, small for NBA.  Seems Howard and Hauser have become good friends.  Lets see if they can recruit some kids
to play with them.  Need a 2 guard next year, as well as another big.

wadesworld

I agree.  My only gripe is I thought there were a few key moments where we got a big bucket and could've used the crowd getting up and into it.  Hauser and Howard each were trying to get the fans to realize it when they were on the bench.  But I think that's more led by the student section typically, and during break there isn't a "true" student section (in that, students who *may* be aided by some alcohol are getting rowdy at key points...but a very good idea to add a package putting butts in the student section seats).

But hard to complain about that crowd during break.  Hope to see more and more show up, hopefully as we have success.

HoopsterBC

Winning brings them out, plus excitement.  Definitely more entertainment value this year.

Golden Avalanche

From the television, the crowd didn't seem an impact at all. Sure there were moments (e.g. JJJ's monster in the first and back-to-back swipes in the second) but for most of the second half I felt a tension in the arena when the lead would go from 15 to nine as if most everyone expected MU to choke the entire advantage.

Why wouldn't that be expected?  Even the most casual Marquette fan would get nervous when the other team goes on a scoring streak.  They haven't exactly been consistent so far this year.

Mr. Nielsen

That be a Student Pass for the men's and women's game over break had good sales. Let's hope people attend the women's games as well.

Paid crowd of almost 15,000. Energy in the building. Good game to see.

I wonder what some thought of the parking and bars last night. Parking seemed fine. Reason I bring this up as the Admirals had a big crowd of 7,300 at UWM Panther Arena for their 7pm game. Pretty cool having both events letting out at the same time, as both fan bases giving out high fives. Great night on 4th street!

Most schools would die for a crowd that large.

Warrior of Law

Parking was really tight, so I figured there was something else going on.  With everything going on north of the BC, it will make for some long walks for a few games.

Nope, but we did stop to pregame with $2 Riverwest Stein's before heading to the Courtside Club.

My guess is the majority of Scoopers could use the exercise.

The opponent helps draw a good crowd as well....GTown is a decent draw every year, even though they are sometimes mediocre.

I wonder if SH will turn out for MU. I am clueless to their attendance history for BE middle tier home games. Same draw issue during break I would guess.

Like several of our BE colleagues, Seton Hall plays in a professional venue (Prudential Center, home of the NHL's Devils). So, their relatively decent crowds of 7,000 fans get drowned out by empty seats.  On that note, it appears there is a trend among BE teams towards playing in a smaller venue when appropriate.  Examples include Villanova (Pallestra vs. Wells Fargo), St. Johns (Carnesecca vs. MSG), DePaul's new facility (Wintrust) which will seat 10,000.

It will be interesting to see if the rent/value of the new Bucks arena makes MU consider playing some games at a smaller venue such as the AL or UWM Panther arena...
