1.   MU did not settle for 3's tonight.
2.   There were stretches with genuine intensity on defense.  Stretches of crap, too.   Baby steps.
3.   Duane's energy lifted the team and changed the flow in the first half.
4.  JjJ, Haanif, Duane all locked in tonight.    What a difference.   Keep it up for the next 2.5 months
5.  Nice of MU to name the arena for the SIU-E coach.
6.  The first 4 minutes of both halves hurt my eyes.
7.  Markus still only looked about 75% tonight.
8.   I didn't mind the zone.  Yes, SIU-E, but it was active and aggressive.   MU played one possession of zone against Georgia and gave up a wing 3.
9.  I still cringed when JJ took that early shot clock 3 from the top of the key to put MU up 29.   Same with the Rowsey pull up 3 up 34.   Reflex.
10.  Too many fouls by our bigs.  Keep fouling=more zone.
11.  I'm liking this high FT %.
12.   Merry Christmas.   Heal up.   Then giddy-up.  The next one matters.

This was the JJJ I thought we were getting this season.

I hope JJJ has a great senior year.

But we say this about him almost every year during the non-con against cupcakes.

He had a good BE season last year.

Not really - he picked it up last year during conference play.  I think most expected that to carry over to this year, and so far he's be inconsistent.

Heldt added some decent play, but is a human foul machine. Needs to work on footwork/hands, but a minimal minutes guy. Great energy tonight.

Hope Luke gets shot back. Only thing he made tonight were dunks, missed every one of his jump hooks, as last game.  Without him in BE play, well.....

Sam is a player, can't wait to see him mature. Went to basket few times and got fouled, not stationary jumpers.  11 points and 9 bounds.

Let the BE start, gonna be tough.

Mr. Sand-Knit

Heldt fewer fouls per minute than fisher
And more rebounds per minute too

Wait ... their coach is named BMO?

I saw and heard players talking on defense tonight. On the way down the court, Luke was pointing out guys to pick up. Markus was encouraging the team to tighten up on D. The double on the post broke down a couple times with no one helping on the open man in the lane, but also frustrated SIUE much of the time and led to several turnovers. Signs of potential improvement.

Beemo. You've been away from Brewtown for too long.

Surprisingly, despite the feeling of domination, we lost two of the four factors last night, OR% (30% v. 26.7%) and FTR (46% v. 36.7%).

Fortunately, we dominated the two most important factors, eFG% (58.3% v. 41%) and TO% (16.1% v. 29.8%).

A 33-point victory is dominating, no matter how you look at it. SIUE could have doubled its offensive rebounding percentage and turned every single one into a made 3-pointer and still lost the game.

Oh definitely. I should have finished the thought. My surprise was mostly because we actually won all four factors against StFU and it felt like we barely won and this game was different.

The same may happen in a number of our wins this year. We're not a great offensive rebounding team — but good shooting usually beats bad shooting. And we aren't going to the line as much as last year because we're shooting more (and making more) from outside.

You got me how we won the four factors against St. Francis. The difference in eFG% and TO% wasn't nearly as much between us and them.
