I don't want to see this thread become bashing former players when they don't do well. I want to see all our alumni do well. And yes the technical definition of alumni includes students who didn't graduate.

I am forever grateful to Awesome Dawson for two things.  First, the lively and fun discussion that his existence caused on this board.  Second, he gave us this

Hope they put the camera on him to give him a nice ovation.  Despite not living up to expectations, he was a good dude and represented well.

So I'm sitting this morning in the Novosibirsk business lounge waiting for a flight to Moscow watching a replay of Zenith St. Petersburg against Yenisey Krasnoyarsk on the sole tv.   Lo and behold there is Trevor Mbakwe playing for Zenith.

Top teams in the Russian VTB league are quite good.... Zenith is not a top team...

Exactly what happened.  William seemed truly appreciative. Big smile and waive.

He did grimace a little when at the very end, the announcer referred to him as "Bill Gates".
Have some patience, FFS.

announcer must have missed the pregame "walk-thru".  that would be like calling randal cobb, randy, not to mention the difference in nationality and income class, ein'er?

I think it might have been an ad lib. He referred to him earlier in the announcement as "William ". It was kind of a wrap-up, along the lines of "Bill Gates, everyone. Let's give him a hand".

I always felt that Randall Cobb's nickname should be Tex.

You went to OLU?
My cousin Matt taught STEM there.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

i wonder if it's possible to put a "thumbs up' or "down" option after someones comment-just a little something for the web site geeks to ponder and the people here to give a "thumbs up" or down"

but because we don't have that feature, i have to respond and give you a couple of thumbs up because i liked that-it made me chuckle and damn it, we could always use more chuckles
