Sam Hauser Has Considerable Upside Potential

From everything I am hearing, the coaches believe Sam is going to a very important player for our program. In fact they are comparing him favorably to Henry, in that he can do so many things at a very high level , with a much better shot and more refined basketball IQ. It seems like Sam has built some good chemistry with the rest of the team and his game really helps bring out the best in some of the other guys. I am really looking forward to seeing how he does in the tougher non conference games.

Also, you have me concerned now that Sam will leave for the NBA after his freshman year and our best recruiter for Joey will be gone.  So now it looks like Sam Hauser will cost us a chance at Joey.  Which makes me think that Sam is really a detriment to the program?  Should we cut ties with Sam now?

I doubt that Sam Hauser is going to set Marquette's all-time freshman rebounding record, make the All Big East team in his first season or get the kind of national attention that Henry did.

That said, Sam will have more than a single season to make an an impression on fans. It all depends on just how good he can become over his college career, and how well MU does as a team.

Other than pure size , Sam has better skills than Henry.  Moreover he is the consummate team player. He will not get a chance to ball hog , take bad shots without penalty and showcase at the expense of the team like Henry did, so he will likely have lower production stats year one but over time if we are going places as a team , Hauser will be the catalyst.

Sam will be great for Marquette. The problem with your thinking of Hank hurting the team and being treated like royalty is that you don't understand basketball.

By your logic, the Cavs let LeBron dominate the ball way too much and need to get guys like Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson way more involved to succeed.
