Fulce was viewed as a better prospect than JFB.  His game was compared to Shawn Marion's.  Then the knees.  I hope their professional relationship is more productive.  S16-S16-E8.

As for Buzz, his tenure creates great internal discord with me. I truly believed we could be a top 10 program with him here; he was quite a character and good for the program on many levels. On the other hand....

It's one thing to feel that way about Buzz. Entirely different with Joe. He's a great MU alumni and I think almost all of us are pleased for him. Congrats!

i didn't mind buzz...and generally supported him.  that said, i'm not sure he was going to get us to top 10 program status.  i always felt like part of the reason he left is he had a terrible season, and he had whiffed on a recruiting class or two whose prospects weren't showing at the college level.  it made sense for him to jump ship, and in doing so he secured a large amount of $$$ for many years to come. 

there's a big difference between building a program back up to the level buzz/tc did, and maintaining that level.  so tc took us to a final four, but hasn't been able to do the same at iu, and never came close to final four status again at MU.  buzz had a nice run, and while i think all coaches have an ego...i think buzz realized how lucky he was not to get bounced earlier than he did in the tourney.  he's made nice strides at VT...but i don't think he'll ever repeat there what he did at MU. 

as for joe...class act...good luck to him, and i think it shows some class from buzz as well.

Joe was always a top class guy, and if nothing else, he has proved himself as a recruiter already since he landed a future NBA All-Star when he recruited Jimmy Butler to Marquette. Glad to see Joe stay in the game and hope he can work his way up. Always one of those guys I'd be happy to see back at Marquette.

Very happy for Joe.  He was a classmate of mine and was always very sincere, kind and respectful with everyone he encountered.  What a wonderful opportunity for him at Tech.  I know he will make the most of it.

As for Buzz, regardless of how MU fans/alumni feel about him, a high number (probably not all) of his former players think the world of him.  He gave many an opportunity that no one else offered,  and helped the players achieve a great deal of success that many thought was not possible.  Buzz's run, which overlapped my college years, will always have a special place in my heart.  The players, the personalities, the team identity and all the successes we had were all special and memorable in their own right.  No need to bad mouth individuals that helped make our school and program reach new heights.

I am extremely loyal to Marquette and the university means a lot to me. The basketball team is something that was an integral part of my growing up and I was on campus when we won in 1977. I've lived and died with Marquette ever since and was extremely hopeful about where we were going before the Hillbilly bolted.

From a sporting standpoint, I'll never get over what the Hillbilly did and how ugly he was to us. Yes, us, as we are Warrior Nation. He had a tough season and rather than manning up and doing the best he can to rebuild, he cut and ran. And the way he ran was in and of itself disgusting.

Anger management -- naah. No more than Mr. Wonderful is really in need of Anger Management. But the Hillbilly is dead to me.

i think what golden really meant, but i could be wrong, was that between TC and buzz, they took the program back up to respectability and back into the national spotlight.  buzz sure didn't lose any ground from where TC had us given the pre-TC years dating back to duckiet.  i hesitate to put rick in that mix as i think given the chance, he would have done very well also as he ended up doing very well at utah and st. louis
