Assuming No Other Roster Changes, Which Team Is Better?

Next Year

I voted last year.

The only way I can see how we would be better is a team that chucks 30 threes a game, and hits 8 to 13 every game.  Not sure we are that team.

bilsu

I also voted last year, but it now only shows one vote for last year.

How many topics are you going to start today?  That would be a great poll.  Get on it.

I done that polls many times, the last time was about 2 years ago.

Next year.  Don't underestimate the experience the young guards gained this year.

Awesome.  Sad I missed it.

I voted last year, but this is a very difficult question, because I think we'll be roughly the same.  Improvement of returnees plus newcomers vs loss of the Ellensons.  We probably did better in close games than we should have last year, and that luck doesn't necessarily translate year to year.

I just know I'd feel a lot better about next year if I felt we had even one guy who could bang down low.

If we want to improve, we'd better shoot the ball a whole lot better.

If it's not next year, then Wojo's seat should be very hot.

I don't think Khalif Young will be the difference between this team being better or worse than last year.  I think they'll be better, but they do badly need a rebounder next year, and moreso in 17.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

How are we determining better? Better record? Make post season play? Higher scoring average? More 3s made? Fewer Ellensons on the team?

We might finish with a worse record but make the post season next year....does that count as better?

Next year, because I've always believed that experience for guys like Cheatham and Carter will be more valuable than what Henry gave as a freshman. Add in viable shooters like Reinhardt, Rowsey, Howard, and Hauser and we've got the offensive weapons. The only question is if someone can go get the ball. My hope is that either Sandy or Anim becomes a viable option at the 4 for at least 15-20 mpg.

It wouldn't be, and it shouldn't be.

Let's set this straight. It will be warmer if we don't see improvement from our current stable of players. It will not be because we missed out on a rising but unheralded role player.

Wojo has done a great job with his guys, but it takes time to collect enough of them to make a difference. Respect the process, 5-year plan, etc., etc.

If this team sucks this year, it will not be because Kalif went in a different direction

Raise your hand if you thought Young was an immediate contributor that would solve our rebounding problems and/or play more than 10 minutes a game next season

Raise your hand if you thought Wally was an immediate contributor that would solve our rebounding problems and/or play more than 10 minutes a game next season

Unless your hand is up for either of those things, losing Young or Wally(for next year) has almost no bearing on whether we are going to be "better" next year or not.

I voted for next year, we won't be the least experienced team on the court by a wide margin every time next year.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yes seriously. If it's that obvious then it should be easy to answer. What measurement are we using to determine if the team is better?

Let's ask the 2015 UK team.  Postseason (results) are ALL that matter.  If we go 0-30 next year and run the BET table I'll consider it a better year.

See that wasn't so hard was it?

Based on that, yes we will be better this coming year than we were this past year. We will make the post season.

Next year.    More experienced.   A year stronger.   Lots of competition for playing time at positions 1 thru 4.
