Will Marquette receive a NIT Invitation?

Yes
No

Poll is something to pass the time between now and tomorrow night.  Hopefully we get in and can match up with either Northwestern, Va Tech or LSU again.

Since I was allowed to "choose up to 2 options", I voted both "yes" and "no".
Have some patience, FFS.

Am I reading this LSU-TAMU box score correctly? LSU scored 38 pts? Less than 21% from the field?
LSU = Vegas 16.  Hate to see what the score would have been with a higher shot clock.

But with 10 and 12, Simmons got his double double, so that will clearly be the lead-in on tonight's SportsCenter.

Not to be donnie downer, but just doing simple RPI math (64 NCAA + 32 NIT) Marquette (110) falls well outside the criteria for selection to the NIT.  Why are people even speculating?

Kids played their hearts out and sadly came up short.  Super happy to see Henry lived up and exceeded the hype he came out with.  Hoping he becomes a really special player in the NBA that we can watch for years.  Couldn't be more excited for the future as it was obvious we finally have talented players, just not ones with experience.

I voted yea, but with all the one seeds going down, looking less likely.

Anyone know when Vegas picks their teams?

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

68 NCAA +Louisville ineligible+32 + ASU,UCLA , Georgetown with Losing records =104. Committee specifically set up to get good matchups , so we are a legitimate bubble team.

Until a combined 25 out of 100 autobids go to sub-100 mid/low majors. Suddenly 85-90 is your NIT bubble...like every other year. That's why we missed in 2014 and why the lowest at large NIT RPI team last year was 90. We're out. It's Vegas or bust.

You're probably right, but you continue to put too much stock into RPI. Hopefully it'll be a moot point going forward - MUs schedule continues to kick them in the nuts.

Ok, well I guess it's "go Arkansas-Little Rock" in Sunbelt and "go Huskies" in AAC today to keep those at large bids open, per Matty V.

Not me, the committee. Happens every year. People say RPI is becoming less important, then tournament bids are announced, and RPI is still king. Until there is concrete evidence of RPI's impact being minimized (and not just hot air from the mouths of guys like Lunardi and Katz) I'm going to expect it will still be the most important calculated metric.

You are absolutely correct. There are a number of factors considered, but when it is all said and done, RPI is used for the first, and then the final cull. Sadly, and somewhat frustratingly, the Warriors are out with a 100+ RPI.

I voted No. I just don't think so and am not sure I care.

If I was Wojo, I think I might prefer four exhibition games in Las Vegas late in the month to test and try things. To see what I can do. I might consider just simply mixing things up more and generally not caring as much about "w"s and "l"s and more about team chemistry, defenses and offensive sets for next year.

The NIT is a joke. It has not been relevant since the NCAA went to 64+ teams in the 1980s. The only way to make it relevant would be to include first round NCAA losers in the field. But that aint going to happen and I just don't really care.

I hope we do whatever it takes to get ready for next year and for what I hope will be our return to the annual Marquette Invitational Tournament (formerly known as the NCAA Championship).

Yah, I get it. Just think they may dig deeper than RPI for MU and the NIT. Maybe not tho..we'll find out soon enough.

Does anyone feel it is rather sad that we are discussing NIT bid or not? Truthfully, either way is fine by me.

Joe - i just posted in another thread asking how Scoopers feel about Selection Sunday today as opposed to previous years. I'll bet you can go to the Mug Rack this afternoon and shoot off a cannon and not hit anyone.

That image is all one needs to have in order to grasp what has happened to Marquette hoops.

Yes. I thought the whole exercise of cheering for #1 seeds to win their conference tounament so MU may sneak in as one of the last seeds was rather pathetic.

I think it's sad that discussing the NIT reflects the state of the program right now.  But this a Marquette site with Marquette fans, so I don't think having a vested interest in finding out if/when the team plays next is sad.

We are who we are, and this is where we are right now. Cut my MU teeth on the early O'Neil years, plenty of good and bad since that 1989-1990 season (Tony Smith/Tosa East).  I don't mind discussing pertinent, relevant issues related to MU.  I always wish for the best and I think Wojo was a great hire.  Not where I am sure we all want to be, but I have been patient in the past and rewarded for that (In Minneapolis, beating the stuffing out of Kentucky), I'll continue to wait and be optimistic in future dividends paid down the line.  That said, I hope we accept a spot in someones "pay for play" post season tourney, just don't feel totally satiated just yet, I'll take more MU hoops this year whatever that may be. That said, Oregon is my plan B, Go Ducks, But always MU first.
