Well, it appears that JJJ really excelled this year despite Wojo playing mind games with him, having him on a short leash, and nailing him to the bench.

Here's to hoping Wojo starts playing mind games with Duane and Sandy next year.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Yes, after sitting in games more than some would like, JJJ responded well during the following games.   I hope with every fiber of my being that the good JJ we saw over the last month is the new normal and that he can build on it even more for next season.

You don't know the proper narrative.

Wojo didn't help JJJ.  JJJ forced Wojo to play him due to how well he performed.  The coach never gets credit for player improvement, unless that coach is someone that Ners likes.

Dont get me wrong Ners is an absolute idiot, but can't help but think JJJ should've been allowed to play through a few more of his mistakes. He had a great game against LSU in Brooklyn and hardly played the next night against ASU. If JJJ had hit his stride a few weeks earlier maybe we beat DePaul and Creighton at home. Food for thought, hindsight is 20/20, still like the direction of the program.

I give Wojo full credit on JJJ transformation.  His shot looks really good compared to how awful it used to look.  I think Wojo is great at player skill development.

I question his in game coaching.  Also, maybe my expectation was way too high but I expected a Wojo coached team to excel defensively.  Defense is a lot of heart, determination, energy, high effort, being gritty, i.e. what Wojo was as a player.  I don't see that with his teams and to close out the season defensively as we did, it is disappointing.

from what I could tell the issue with JJJ was his hustle on defense.  Look back at the Creighton game at home.  After several scores JJJ was the last one back and often times never got back before Creighton scored

I agree with your assessment but took it a step further (bold).  The assistants spend a ton of time with the players working on skills.

Huge credit on JJJ's development to the coaching staff.  Let's remember that pine time and playing time are both part of player development.  The next step of JJJ's development is making him ready to play O and D for 30+ minutes per game.
