Marquette's Henry Ellenson named Big East freshman of the year

Marquette forward Henry Ellenson became just the second Golden Eagles player to earn Big East freshman of the year, an award that came by unanimous vote from the league’s head coaches.

Congrats Henry.

Kris Dunn as player of the year is a joke.  Should have been Bentil.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Agreed.  Hard to be MVP of a league when you're not even MVP of your team.

Dunn named USA Today All American yesterday, Bentil was not

Golden Avalanche

Bentil made a dramatic leap in production on the offensive end but Dunn is clearly a better all around basketball player.

Also, congratulations to Hank. It's been a ton of fun to watch him this year and will be following his NBA career closely.

Bentil is great but he's partly great because of the attention Dunn receives. Bentil without Dunn is probably good not great. Dunn is great wherever.

Except when Bentil was hurt and PC went on a slide and Dunn went in a slump.  Great two man game with those two.

Fair. I oversimplified it. Part of that is they have absolutely nothing up front after Bentil. Lots of wings, but no bigs.

Both are great players. I have no issue with Dunn for POY, although I probably would have picked Hart.

I'll also admit I've got sampling bias -- namely, Bentil's two performances against us.

Didnt a poster get absolutely blasted pre-season for suggesting Henry would have Crowder's senior numbers for points and rebounds?

Looks pretty close. Less points but more boards. Jae had a better defensive year and more efficient but that is not what the poster said. Just points and rebounds.

Kudos whomever you are.

I get that.   Throw in some Jesus and bad jokes...

But HE was not unanimous - looks like he'll have to come back!

Huh?

"an award that came by unanimous vote from the league's head coaches."
