I agreed to not post in its entirety.  I forgot the link and added it.  I apologize for that.  He lost exactly zero money from my oversight, even if I did not correct it.

He's not paid for a free blog which he gives away on a message board.  A best the advertising makes few hundred dollars a month (and probably less than that).  He's paid to write for a bankrupt newspaper.

He's just an internet aggregator.  You are all getting worked out about a blog post that is nothing but re-posting MU tweets about Henry.  Their was no new content.

There, I said it, I don't think he is very good.  He's better than the drunk, but he's not really doing much in the way of "good content."

And his audience is the sweater vests that buy dead trees, which no one here cares about.

Finally, congrats for hijacking this thread (again) with this faux outrage.  I was, and remain, more interested in talking about Henry's ankle than a bankrupt newspaper with a broken business model that no one really gives a sh!t about.

The page views are low because most of us have already gotten the link off his Twitter page and read the story, so we don't need to click the thread to read it again.

Not only that, but scoop logs every time a person clicks on a thread. Its not every individual person who clicks on a thread. We don't discuss things in Matty V's threads. We typically read the thread once and are done.  Tower's thoughts threads usually contain discussion, so people go back to it repeatedly. If look at the thread 10 times it counts it as 10 not as 1.

OMFG this is really still a thing? You're still moaning about this? Okay...people link to his stories off not just Scoop but Twitter, FaceBook, and simply the JSOnline page. Further, we rarely discuss in that threat, so as noted, it gets a one-and-done viewing as opposed to other active discussion threads.

When you decide to blatantly rip off his stuff, how about putting a quote box around it? I have to figure you've spent enough time on this board to do that. And yes, post the link and be sure to attribute.

As far as the business model, who cares? What century do you live in? Let's be honest, Matt's work at JSOnline is, like virtually all media employee exploits, an audition for another job. Whether it's moving up in Milwaukee, moving to a bigger market, or writing for a more national outlet such as SI or ESPN, this stuff is his resume. Included in that resume is page views, which you undermine when you post his material and don't provide a link.

But most important is the simple ethics of it. You post his work as your own (which you are doing by not attributing or using quote boxes) and it is plagiarism. That's dishonest at best and illegal at worst.

It's okay to admit you were wrong. But when you do it over and over and over, it's hard to believe you actually care about your misdeeds, especially when you throw in snide comments about the company Matt works for.

It sad how pathetic his organization has become that a bunch of anonymous poster on a free website feel it necessary to "protect" his free information from being re-posted on the same site that he posted it for free to big with!  And, unbelievably in this case, I'm getting it for forgetting a link when his post was a cut and paste job from the MU's twitter feed!!

Last I checked, the Journal Sentinel allowed 10 free articles monthly, then readers have to subscribe. So it's not free, you just don't use the service enough to hit the pay threshold. So no, he's not giving it away for free, and you are ripping him off.
