If anyone is good with artwork, how about a shirt that has all the best Scoop lines formed in the shape of the old Warrior head logo so it just looks like the Warrior from a distance?

This reminds me of the "Chief Crowder" tees from a few years back.  They were designed by an alum in San Diego and printed in Chula Vista CA.  I still have mine, but don't remember who did them.  Anybody else remember any details?

Our new MUscoop shirts.

Maybe done deal on the back? Little too much writing on the front, and I think teal font would be better. Black shirt with teal font

I thought one of the most impressive stat lines was du will - 3/4 with only one 3pa, a couple Rebs, steals and dimes.  Playing within himself, letting the game come to him, not pressing.  That looks like coaching to me and is a very encouraging sign.

I thought the same. I kept waiting for him to force up a couple of silly shots because he hadn't scored in awhile, but he was in control the whole game, like a second PG out there. As long as he retains the ability and will to "go off" if we need him to because others aren't, this is encouraging.

Well-played game all around yesterday. A few more thoughts...
.
  • Henry didn't have it yesterday, but at least didn't force it too much. Two of his three long-range attempts were very good shot choices. Amazing when a kid can go for 14/9 and be having an off day.
  • Cheatham was a stud. Loved seeing him actually take those outside shots instead of always faking the shot, then driving to the hole. Granted, he can do that, but that move hasn't been as successful in conference play where teams have him better scouted. He took what DePaul gave him, and that was a ton of open long-range looks.
  • Tommy Hamilton was awesome yesterday. Someone in the chat asked if he's a NBA prospect...personally, I can't see it. Yeah, he did very well yesterday, but I don't think any of the stuff he does would work at the next level. Such an interesting skillset, however.
  • Really felt yesterday was one of the smarter games we've played. Good shot choices, excellent ball movement to keep working for a good look. One in particular we went to the hole and it wasn't there. Driver kicked out and despite the shot clock running out, we made two extra passes and got an open look from three for Henry. He missed, but it was excellent movement by the team.
  • High efficiency days for Luke, Duane, and JJ, albeit it in different ways. JJ at times looking like a point-forward. Duane took what he was given and contributed in little ways, and Luke was great down low.
  • Had some very nice stretches regarding turnovers. Still finished with 14, which is too many in my book.
  • Garrett sitting out benefited us a great deal. Add him to DePaul's roster yesterday and it wouldn't have been nearly as easy. Leitao has them playing a lot tougher than Purnell did.
  • Watching DePaul's first-half turnover woes made me think "that must be what it's like playing against us!"
  • Love when Marquette wins on my birthday weekend (39 on Monday).
  • We're now guaranteed a winning record. After last year, that's pretty cool. Three more wins and we should get some postseason play. That's a tall order, but repaying Creighton for that loss last week would be a good start.

5.  So close to being the cathartic ass kicking we all wanted, but young guys don't know how to finish.

Well it really was never in doubt.  It got sloppy, but at no point did I say "hey we might lose this."

Three comments:

1. If Howard comes to Marquette, he will get playing time.  Cheatham is only playing point out of necessity.

2. Bad Luke showed up for the first two minutes.  First couple of shots were weak ass finesse stuff.  The announcers mentioned that Wojo wanted him to get into his moves earlier, and he barely missed a shot the rest of the way.

3. We scored a lot of points with Henry not having a good game.  That's a good thing.

This might be a glimpse into our future next year.  I'm encouraged.

Agreed.  Losing your best player is rough, but we (likely) have over 75% of our offense back.

This is a very important point.  Whoever is playing the 4 next year doesn't need to be a prolific scorer.  He got to own the middle defensively, rebound and generally be a 'dirty work' player.  Without adding anyone at another position, our scoring options will likely be Hani, Luke, JjJ, Duane, Traci and Rowsey.  Compare that to last year when nobody beside Carlino could reliably score.

Good point.  What has happened to Sandy?  Loved his play in the first half of the season.

Heldt got Wally's minutes at the backup 4 and played very well.  Looking forward to watching him as he develops some more confidence.

All around has good basketball skills, but not one that makes him stand out in the BE.  He's only a sophomore though.

And his frame seems to hold weight real well.  Noticeably bigger from this summer.

If I were Wojo I'd have Sandy work real hard at becoming 'Big East good' at one thing first.  I'd speculate that's his ability on the defensive end.  Sandy can contribute on that end of the floor.  That's how he can earn minutes.

The entire Chicago Tribune "story" on the game is two sentences in the general state round-up section (with Illinois State, EIU, SIU etc.) of the college basketball over-all round up.  Oh DePaul.

In same sports section, headline  stories on Fenwick beating St Joe's for Catholic title and big wins by Simeon and Morgan Park.  How will those kids think of DePaul when they are getting bigger write ups than the DePaul program?

This +100.  I think there will be plenty of places to get points from next year, some decent shooters, a few slashers, and Luke as an offensive threat in the middle.  Where we will really miss HE is on the glass - on both ends.  A Robert Jackson type (of course as I look him up I see he averaged 15 ppg - damn were those quiet - you think about 2003 and you think diener, wade and Novak for your scoring - RJ really was the piece that made that run happen). But even barring the points we just NEED a bulldog on the glass to bang with the big BE bodies - with that next year could be a whole lot of fun, especially since Heldt is looking like he could be a very serviceable back-up big in year 2.

MU needs one player like you said.  Wojo can offer that guy the world,  lots of playing time.  There has to be one out there, I am surprised they can not find or are not looking at a junior college type kid, like Bob Lackey.  Now that would be a nice addition.  Any word if they are?  Have not heard of anybody yet?  Might be just looking at waiting to hear about grad transfers, with experience, this team might be really good next year, we can hope.

I laughed and then realized of course that you're right.

I'll assume that the social media (lack of) following/interest in DePaul bball tracks the Tribune.

Their Scout board is a wasteland.

The BE must be ripping their hair out over DePaul.  At least St. Johns is trying.

I don't know if I have seen a D1 school seemingly care so little about their premiere athletic program.  Some schools just don't have resources.  Some schools have academic roadblocks.  But DePaul just doesn't care.  And that's too bad because the rivalry could be really something special.   It could make up for the loss of ND and Louisville.
