Does anybody know MU's overall stats for 3 pointers in Big East play?  How does that compare to others in the BE?

MerrittsMustache

#1
MU is deadlast in 3-point FG% in BE play (26-97, 26.8%)

3-POINT FG PCT   G   3FGM   3FGA   Pct
1.   Gtown   6   55   136   .404
2.   DePaul   6   36   96   .375
3.   Xavier   5   37   102   .363
4.   Creighton   6   46   132   .348
5.   Butler   5   26   78   .333
6.   Villanova   6   38   119   .319
7.   S Hall   5   22   73   .301
8.   St. J's   6   35   118   .297
9.   Prov    5   34   116   .293
10.   Marq    6   26   97   .268

Turns out, MU is first in Steals, 3rd in assists and doesn't rank in the top half in any other category.

THANKS for confirming my suspicions.

As some have suggested I guess if we all cheer louder the threes will magically start falling.

To put these stats in perspective DJO was a 0.40 shooter while at MU.

Only 37.5% (still good) after his sophomore year when he was over 47%...

DJO's 3-point shooting FELL 11 full percentage points from sophomore to junior year...

...guys can perform differently than their past year and/or games...

I am just quoting two sources. Possibly you may want to correct the MU web page and wikipedia.

OK, see you are taking his Junior and Senior years only.

Very, very difficult to win college basketball games in this day and age if you get outscored from 3 every single game, sometimes by 15 or 21 points.

We actually were not a good 3-point shooting team in several of Buzz's years, including the Elite Eight season, but we had some extremely talented, tough, experienced teams with NBA players.

Are there stats for 3's against a team's defense?

Marquette is giving up 35.5% from 3 in conference games (7th in the Big East), 32.5% for the season.

Basis? It just depends. There are differing styles and there have been many highly successful teams in recent times that don't rely much on the 3-point shot.

This year's only unbeaten, SMU, averages a -1 3-pointer made per game. One game they were -24 points from 3.. and they won. One game they were -27 from 3.. and they won. Another they were -36 from three, and they won...

A year ago (27-7 season) they were outscored from 3, on average, by more than double digits per game!

2-seed Arizona last year.. remember when Utah outscored them by 24 from 3? Arizona won by 18.

Next time against Utah & the mighty trey.. they got outscored from deep by 15... won again, by 6, on the road.

It took becky outscoring them by ** 30 ** from deep to knock them out of the tourney, aina?

Good post but where do you get the time to look this up?

anyway, the point is perfect...MU needs to be a RIM TEAM...drive to the rim...feed the rim...the odd three comes inside-out...Henry needs to be "inside the freakin 3-point line". Duane needs to drive and not shoot threes...WOJO has to prove he's a good coach by changing this behavior before the season is lost altogether...we can, with a little luck finish the BE over 500. I really think its possible. But got to stop killing ourselves with missed threes!

Took approx 4 minutes.

The truth is the 3-point shot is an equalizer and we may very well need it to succeed.

Doesn't the season ride on the BE tournament?  We have time to learn and execute all your recommendations.  Time for another team meeting.

Writing about three point shooting. We need it. Wisconsin network released some stats that are
interesting. Stevens Point SPASH -- Trev Anderson (UWGB) who is the glue to the team is
number 1 in the state with over 60% made, SAM HAUSER (MU) is third and JOEY HAUSER
is 10th with 39%. Sam is around 50%. Just thought I would bring it up.

I didn't say impossible. I said "very very difficult" unless you have the kind of team we had in 2013 or some of these others you name have.

A point you pretty much confirmed a few comments later when you said:
