Possibly an earlier typo? Now says "performance-based competitive excellence" which makes sense.

Honestly, I wouldn't be averse to the Big East exploring this...or at the very least, consider rebranding the Wednesday Big East Tournament pigtail games as the DePaul Invitational Preliminaries ("DIPs").

Could also go with the "DePaul Opening Games" (DOGs). ;)
