Watching the game and just a thought at the half...Why has Wojo not been targeting any Chicago kids?  That has been a staple of the program and being a disciple of coach K you would think he would be in that hot bed every chance he got.

Back in the day when Wisconsin didn't product much talent, you had to go to Chicago.  Not the case anymore.  Doesn't mean he ignores Chicago, but he doesn't have to rely on Chicago either.

Honestly, I think there may be more to it. I can't remember us targeting any Chicago guy other than LoVett, and we got out of that pretty quick. Maybe he just doesn't want to deal with the...umm...complications that sometimes come with Chicago.

Yup, even in the "clean" Chicago recruitments, you have to suck up to HS and AAU coaches and play politics.

Not necessarily.  Plenty of programs built with success not doing that very thing.

Lovette ending up not be eligible at St. John's. Therefore, assuming Wojo backed off, it was for a good reason.

Over time he will be competing for those kids. With AAU it is easier to find talent all over rather than just sticking with hot beds.

Yup. He's a 17-year-old sophomore and will enter college as a 20-year-old freshman. He's dominated kids 2-3 years younger than him for quite awhile now, which has some questioning how good he really is, as well as whether or not he can (or will) defend anyone at this level.

Scoopers vs. college scouts.

I wonder if McCabe will even listen to these high majors who are coming around more and more lately. He should just send them his birth certificate and send his application to UW-Oshkosh.

Given all of Duke's success recruiting the Chicago area during Wojo's time as an assistant there (Parker, Okafor, Dockery, Schreyer, Thompson), I'd be surprised if Wojo were avoiding the area or failed to recognize its importance.

FWIW, MU is very interested in 2017 combo forward Christian Negron out of Elgin (as are most other major programs in the Midwest).
Also 2017 PG Nojel Eastern from Evanston.

I think someone should put in a call to Kobe King.

This was my first thought.  Also, could help us in regards to Joey Hauser.  He was wearing red last Sat.

If coaches braved the stink of Kaukauna to see him, he's got to be pretty good.

Yep. And without the squirm of D Wade where would your boy be coaching right now?

Negron is a real good kid and player. Huge accomplishment for our travel team to only give up one dunk and no alley oop dunks to him in travel ball in 8th grade. Talented and humble kid. His stock seems to keep rising.

His family got their tickets through UW.  That's why they wore red.  I've heard his preference was UW, but that doesn't mean he's going.  I know his parents want the boys to play together.

Not to mention the all-time scoring leader.

The notion that Chicago is too "squirmy" for Wojo or any other coach is dumb. Every program recruits Chicago, including I4. Crean went hard after Cliff Alexander, for example. Squirmy of him.
