The Lens

A few off the court thoughts as I made my season debut last night:

- The new Titans video is great.  Fun to see Jimmy get the Wade treatment.  I think they took TC out, which is wrong.  All coaches should be shown.  KO, Buzz and Deane make for great TV.
- We are no longer the best student section in the land.  Smart
- The students who came were great, after the game I remarked to my seat mate, well we know who the partiers on campus are...they seemed to be having fun.  Double Smart
- Nice to see us add Van Halen to our U2 & AC/DC artist list.  We have the 80's covered.
- The team coming out the tunnel took forever...I was hoping for a collision with IUPUI.
- Very nice, simple tribute for Paris.
- Where the Streets Have No Name is back for year 17.  Have to imagine TC bought the rights for perpetuity.  Smart x 4
- Chris Carawell wore a light blue sport coat with dark slacks.  It was almost Buzz-Esque.  (Buzz on a slow day) I cried.
- Did we pipe in crowd noise at the end of the game?   OMG was that embarrassing.   Eventually the fake crowd noise got turned down and we were left with just the music.  For a minute we were the Atlanta Falcons.  Not Smart
The Teal Train has left the station and Lens is day drinking in the bar car.    ---- Dr. Blackheart

Semi-related question...What's with the students preferring the corner as opposed to behind the basket? Better view? Closer to the opposing bench? Near the beer stand?

Wasn't there...but if we really did use fake crowd noise, it's very sad indeed.

Not a student (anymore), but I always pick corner seats over end zone due to the view.

Exactly my thought, Doc. I have heard some women fake orgasm, too...

I didn't notice that during the Belmont game, was busy yelling.  Anyone know if we did it then too?
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

Moved my seats from 403 to 209. I'm just dazzled by how much better the view is.

Spotcheck Billy

this year I've been surprised how early before the 2nd half starts that the players come out to warm up, there must have been at least 5 minutes left in halftime last night

Fake crowd noise??  Really   Not cool. ::)

Crowd looked very small on TV.  2/3 lower bowl max?

#UnleashSean

The Belmont game had a huge student section turnout. Close to a Bucky game level. IUPUI not so much, but it being against IUPUI and a Monday probably had alot to do with that.

I don't know what has happened in only a year after being a student but these 8 pm start times are brutal.

Its great that we have TV exposure but that messes with the perfect 7pm game time.

I've found 8pm to be a great tip-off time. Allows me to get home, enjoy dinner with the wife and kids, spend some good quality time with the family and then get the hell outta there just as the chaos of bath and bedtime begins.

The issue in the past was that 8 PM tip times really are 8:15 PM tip times, and games would end at 10:30 PM or later with all the media timeouts. The new rules have really help shorten the games. It was an 8:15 tip last night and the game went into OT and still ended by 10:20

Guess they were all home watching RAW.

The problem with 8:00PM tip-off is that they are 9:00PM on the east coast.

I don't recall hearing any fake crowd noise.  There was some fake singalongs to the Jock Jams - but I am pretty sure that has always been there.
Have some patience, FFS.

Whenever Bob Wild would come out (senior night, presentation on court. etc.) he always came out to Van Halen.

Yep. There was no noise pumped in. I would have noticed it upstairs, since no one was up there.

I feel for the season ticket holders of the game and their grandkids that don't get to center court anymore and were replaced by the Faculty of the game at center court

bilsu

We can start playing our games at the AL, if any less fans show up.

DienerTime34

Not related to the game day experience per se, but please dump the Win Every Day slogan from the marketing. In the same way we clearly don't have "The Greatest Student Section In The Country" when it's 70% empty, we are clearly not Winning Every Day when we have a losing record with Wojo, shoot 17% from 3 and are unable to play man-to-man defense.

It is an awful start time.   I have to wait about 3 hours after I get home for the game to start and the game doesnt start till 8:15 which means that game is not over till 10:15.   It is than another 10 minutes to get to the car, and another 50 to get home to Kenosha.  By that time we are at 11:15 for a 5:05 wake up.   I stopped getting season tickets because of the 8pm game times.
I decided to get a half season of Bucks tickets instead due to the 7 o clock starts or 7:30 on saturdays.
