Just lost 90-58 do D-II St. Thomas Aquinas...

Mutaman

DJO's Jaw

This isn't even their only exhibition. They could end up 0-2 before the season even starts!

Eldon

Jeez.

Are you sure this is Big East's St. Johns and not that school in Minnesota?

chapman

DePaul has something to look forward to this season.

January 9th - St.Johns @ MU

January 23rd - MU @ St.Johns

Tears will be shed if MU even splits with these Johnnies

On one hand, this was without Marcus LoVett and Kassoum Yakwe, both of whom haven't been cleared by the NCAA.

On the other hand, the season starts in 8 days and the NCAA hasn't cleared them yet, PLUS LoVett was on crutches last night.

I try not to put any stock in these preseason games, ever since Syracuse lost to DII Le Moyne and went on to dominate the Big East in 2009-10. But man...losing by 32? That's tough to ignore.

I think the really bad part is that they were down 16 at the half.

Either Mullin couldn't adjust, or couldn't kick them in the butt hard enough to avoid getting embarrassed.

Um...didn't we go 0-2 last year?

No! MU beat DePaul on Senior Day!

EDIT: Or did you mean against St. John's? In that case, this is an entirely different StJ team this season.

Almost completely literally different.

Exhibition games mean nada in terms of where the season ends up

I'll say that if they lost by 2 like Iowa but they lost by 32...

ChicosBailBonds

Small sample, new coach, new season.
They might be bad, or even a disaster, but plenty of teams have lost exhibition games or early season games to perceived lesser talents and done just fine.

I just need more than one game, despite who the opponent is.

Bob Dukiet was fired 2 years before you would have drawn any conclusion on him - so your reticence when it comes to jumping to conclusions (except on matters you prejudge due to politics, religion or ethnicity) is firmly established. But unless you can come up with a list of teams who lost by more than 30 to a DII team and turned out fo be good, I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict St John will suck this year.

ChicosBailBonds

Look, I think St. John's is going to be bad this year based on who they lost, I'm simply saying one game anything can happen.

Syracuse lose to Lemoyne a few years ago in Exhibition and then went 24-1.  Miami lost to St. Leo a few years ago, and won the ACC.  Etc, etc.

No way do I think SJU is going to win the Big East.  They should be pretty bad, but would it surprise anyone if they knocked off a Big East team during the year?  Or two or three?  It could happen and likely will happen.

Getting hammered in this Iowa game.  Anyone want to go over to the Johnnies board and celebrate with those guys?

MU86NC

Maybe r boys should watch the replay....

ecompt

Johnnies may be bad but they're 10-15 points better than us.

bilsu

They were being beaten pretty good last night by Rutgers and then came back and won the game. Iowa also lost an exhibition game. Maybe losing an exhibition game to get your players attention is better than losing a regular season game.
