debating whether to go or not.

Oh, go! Request to sit next to me. We'll talk about Nashville and make fun of other Scoopers.

More of a sweater vest event or do you see young alumni there to?
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I'd say skewed more business. Generally an older crowd but not vestie old.  Ballroom fare. Layup questions.

Gotcha. Maybe I'll wait a few years before heading there.

Not sure if considered young anymore once I hit my 30s, but debating attending this. Just hard as I reverse commute to oak brook. If I can schedule a few meetings in the loop in the morning then maybe I can pull it off.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Got my table next to the bar.  Went to The Party Outlet  tonight and got my roll of drink tickets. Search me out for freebies. I will be wearing the bow tie, non รจ?

All right. I decided to go.

Want to hear Wojo poor-mouth the nation's next coast-to-coast undefeated basketball team!

Nice venue, outstanding sound system. Nice table by the bar.  Food pretty good actually. Bought a few rounds.

Hosted by Brian Hanley, whose style was more conversational like his radio gig.  Wojo and Kieger more relaxed and less canned as a result of his wit. Incredibly, our head coaches have not been to Real Chili, which prompted Brian to question the hiring process.  Wojo just back from the West (Bailey) on recruiting and then off again (East).  Scholl knows how to do the banquet circuit.  Recognized Bo Ellis and his contributions.  No raffle.  I would say there were 22 tables of 10.

Chick, what say you?

My guess is closer to 30 tables.  I was at table 25 .

Yes, much better than last year.  Wojo is finally starting to loosen up a bit when it comes talking in public. He cracked a couple of decent jokes, even.

And I, too, was shocked that both coaches still have their Chili cherry.  Shouldn't that be where they hold the second interview?

Chili cherry.

That term is not approved.

The proper term is Real Chili Virgin.  Or Real Chili virginity.

Silkk the Shaka

Thought this was the best one I've been to (out of about 5 over the last decade). Wojo was the most personable & confident/funny I've ever seen him, like he's finally finding a groove and coming into his own (public persona-wise). You could see why he'd be successful on the recruiting trail after establishing a relationship.

Also, I think he knows he's got some horses this year. Seems genuinely excited.

Also, who died and made you Chili Chief?

I really liked Wojo mocking of football coaches.  Wojo was noting how football coaches say (brag) they got home at 1AM from a recruiting trip and they are up at 4am breaking down tape.

As Wojo said (paraphrasing) "well for many years I sat next  to the arguably the greatest college coach ever and ... he never did anything like this."

Perfect!

I like the "Popping the Chili Cherry" term.  But, seriously, how does Carolyn attend MU for four years and not Special Down?  That is cloistered nun territory.

Other tidbits: Wojo was half apologizing for the schedule.  Family loves Milwaukee.  Visited a Chicago recruit in AM. Lovell bench presses with team (creepy?).  Wojo lived a couple of months in Poland.  Both coaches promised a national championship. Women have nine frosh (read:  will be a massive rebuilding year like Theo). Wojo says he uses new arena as a selling point ("do you want to play in the best basketball arena in the world?").  Hank's daughter has a brain tumor.  Hanley said the BE was down last year and Wojo jumped on him.  MU needs donations.  Kieger owns a boat.

Warriors4ever

I was at Table 18.  Wojo was almost directly behind me.  He was much more relaxed this year.  He really loved Lake Como on the Italy trip.  He played briefly in Poland, that's when he lived there (he told me that afterwards when I asked him).  His kids like Garrett's Popcorn.  He likes Lou Malnati pizza.
Did people actually submit some of the more inane questions?
I don't like this style of submitting questions but Hanley was pretty good with it.  He was pretty funny when he talked about taking Theory of Coaching Basketball taught by Rick Majerus and how they would always know when the away games were so they knew there wouldn't be class.
I'm with Wojo on the football coaches.
