Wades, the bright lights in the seating area are an awful distraction.  It's like sitting in someones' basement rec room with the overhead recessed lighting.  You could read a book in the stands during the game-leads to all kinds of distractions when people show up late across the court, or when your wife is pointing out that your friends' seats are empty.
At the arena the seats were dimmed, and the court was the center of attention.  I've complained about the lighting since the move to BC.

Agree.  My biggest complaints about the BC have always been the hockey sightlines and the lighting.

Plus it'll be better for smooching with chick during those desperately boring RPI 300+ games.  ;D

I thought you guys were too old for that!!!  ;)

Really?  I personally hate when they have the dimmed lighting.  Especially on TV.  The "Battle for Atlantis" tournament always looks horrible on TV due to the lighting in my opinion.  In person I never really liked it either.  Just makes for an odd atmosphere to me.

GOO

I've read 16K for seating.  Maybe that means 16K+ so that it is closer to 17K, I have no idea but the closer to 16K the better.
16K would be perfect for MU and for atmosphere.  The BC at 18.5 is too big for MU and for the Bucks for 95% of the games.

Oh, that gym takes it to an extreme. We're not talking about that kind of movie theater darkness in the crowd, but definitely dimmer than the current setup.

That's not a gym, it's a ballroom.

Does a smaller arena mean higher ticket prices? Less seats to sell means less revenue with the same pricing structure.

If not a smaller one, a new arena means higher prices. Especially since it looks like there will be a $2 surcharge on all tickets to help pay for the place.

In short, yes, MU fans will pay more for tickets in the future.

BrewCity83

There's already a $2 per ticket surcharge on all Bradley Center tickets priced over $12 and a slightly smaller ($1.50? per ticket) surcharge on tickets under $12.  That won't add to the ticket cost except the new plan calls for a flat $2 surcharge on all tickets.

But a new arena always leads to an increase in ticket prices, surcharge or not.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

The surcharge isn't used to help pay for the place.

Unless I'm missing something that paying off the debt from building the arena is not the same as paying for the arena.

Hmm weird, I heard multiple interviews with Peter Feigen following the senate vote saying that the surcharge would go back to the state.

Bucks President, Peter Feigin said 90% of the revenue comes from about the first 10 rows or so.
