Winston just counter-sued the women who accused him of rape. Hope I am wrong but this smacks of Lance Armstrong who sued the writers who wrote about his cheating and Braun who went after the tester who caught him cheating.

Clearly more serious but I don't think this ends well. Remember on campus when a I was in school a fellow student assailed a woman's character who accused him of rape is now on the registry of sex offenders for raping a 14 year old.

Again, hope I am wrong but getting a bad vibe here.

Tampa Bay is working hard to outdo the Cowboys when it comes to employing lowlifes. They have a lot of work to do, though.

Cant say I wouldn't take legal action against someone slandering my name and potentially costing me millions in endorsements as a result.

Has Nike dropped you like a hot potato after it came out about all those strippers and cocktail waitresses?

Of course that's assuming that he's telling the truth.  Which really only two people know.

my hunch would be her not slandering anymore. I'm no lawyer but I don't think financial considerations are the only things one can sue over.

There is no way he is going to meet the burden of proof that she is slandering him.  His hope is that expensive lawyers and the spotlight will be too much for her.

Braun simply appealed WADA's findings and MLB's decision... I wouldn't qualify that as "going after the tester."  Plus, he didn't sue anyone (except his former buddy who tried to extort money from him).

Not really sure why you had to use Braun as an example when there are plenty of better ones out there.  Are you really put off about Winston's counter-suit, or are you just a bit miffed that the Brewers have taken 4 of 6 from the Cubs in the past week?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

To be fair, Braun suggested the tester was anti-semitic and purposely doctoring his samples to make it appear that he was doping.

Sounds like your law degree trumps my no-law-degree

You mean the "collector."  The "tester" was WADA.

Nevertheless, there's a material difference between "suggesting" someone did something to wrong you and actually going out and suing that person.

A key difference here is that Winston could actually be innocent.
Braun knew he was a cheater, and still assassinated someone's character to try to cover it up.

That's true. One is way slimier. #BanBraun

Turn on MSNBC, Fox News, C-Span, MTV, whatever... I bet you won't go five minutes without seeing someone assassinating another's character.

Are you saying if you were the Buccaneers GM you wouldn't take Jameis with the first pick? He's exactly the type of player they needed, character issues or not. A GM in that situation has to take a chance on him.

Also, besides the obvious Hardy what player is a huge lowlife on the Cowboys? (not trying to make a point, I'm seriously asking.) The only player who sticks out is Dez Bryant but he's really cleaned up his act as of late.

Oh, well then that makes falsely accusing someone of antisemitism to cover up for your cheating totally OK.

I'm not saying it's OK.  I'm just saying that there's a difference between doing what every other politician, celebrity or athlete in trouble does in this country and actually going out and suing someone.  If you can't see the distinction, there's no sense in trying to explain it... just don't sue me.
