I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

chapman

Very generous gift, and in Majerus' spirit.  I miss that guy.

Give to Lee to change his mind!

It's what Rick would have wanted!

Class71

There are many ways to be a great person but giving another an opportunity to succeed is truly at the top of the scale. Bravo, Bravo!

Thanks coach.

Feel confident that guys like Glen, Terrell, Larry and others will hear their coach's call.

GoldenWarrior11

Rick's legacy continues.  Absolutely wonderful.

To circle back to an earlier thread, this is one of the great things you get to do when you live beneath your means most of your life.  Rick was a man of simple tastes, and some great causes are now a beneficiary.
Have some patience, FFS.

source?

Classy move. As the current beneficiary of a scholarship I would like to say a big "thank you" to the Majerus family and all donors past, present, and future. It means a lot to those of us who grew up in less than privileged families.

I mean, the man was making 7 figures or close for a long time, I think most bachelors who did that could do the same, hotel living or not.

Either way, great gesture.

Goose

Rick was one of my all time favorites and think this is awesome. Well done by the Majerus family. I am confident that his Mom and Dad are smiling down today with great pride.

Goose

Quick follow up on simple tastes, Rick lived an awfully good life in many ways. Traveled, ate out and great joints to live in. This was not a guy making 7 figures and living off 80k a year.

Living an awfully good life does not necessarily mean that he wasn't still living beneath his means.

"If I live for myself alone, what good am I?" Indeed, indeed ...

Great legacy for a great man.
Well said. I'll have a drink in Majerus' honor tonight and maybe a (much smaller) donation too.

warriorchick

I am surprised none of y'all have suggested that his lack of a wife (or even a serious girlfriend ever, if I am not mistaken) could have more than funded this endowment.
Have some patience, FFS.

Daniel

Truly a special soul - this is just like him. Service to others. A true Jebbie. Hats off to you, Coach. You are bigger than life even in death.

He was married for awhile. Back in my flight school days I was heading to Mitchell Field and saw Majerus being dropped off by his wife. Not sure how long that lasted but he was married for a time.

Rick had a long time girlfriend, Angie Kvidera, whom he knew for 30 years.

GGGG

Like many people with some wealth, he enjoyed the fruits of his labor.  Like too few people with wealth, he was a generous soul.

Goose

Rick and Angie were extremely tight for a long time. She was serious girlfriend for years.

Lennys Tap

Generous and thoughtful in life, generous and thoughtful in death. A true warrior who loved Marquette.

The right wife doesn't hurt, it's the kids that are expensive. Along with lifestyle creep.
