Update

Hey Guys/Gals,

My son Bradley has been discharged from Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. He did really well post stem cell transplant, well enough to get discharged after 22 days, which is pretty amazing. They prepare you for the worst, and for a very long stay. We're currently at a Ronald McDonald House near Lurie's, it's basically a halfway house for the next few weeks as we monitor his counts and hopefully avoid any infections and make sure there's no signs of Graft vs Host.

Bradley's been, as his doctor's have put it, the exception to the rule. He never had a feeding tube, never lost weight, beat mucositis quickly, all these things should have been issues. Very blessed and fortunate not to have had any complications, quite amazing actually.

Here's to hoping for a positive offseason for both MU & Bradley!

PS-If anyone has dealt with supporting a loved one (child/parent/spouse) while they go through a medical hardship, I'm curious how you dealt with work. By no means am I trying to whine here, but it's been incredibly difficult to hold on to a sales job where you are supposed to travel often, and after four months of not being on the road, it starts to catch up and effect your work, and causes crazy stress. I don't know of anyone personally that's been in a situation like that, so if you have, and have advice, please PM me. Thanks guys!

BTW, there's always another job, but only one Bradley. All you can do is the best you can. Heck with all the collaboration and video tools available to companies today, maybe you can help champion some of that stuff for your company.

My wife went through a stretch where she had multiple, serious health issues.  At some point, both of us realized that I simply could not be there all of the time.  We are blessed with a lot of family and friends that were willing to help out.  It's much easier though when you are dealing with an adult instead of a child however.

Many here have had to go through different versions of what you are going through, some with children, some with spouses, some with parents.   Each and every one has a different support system, a different employer, different word views, different priorities.    We all sympathize and empathize with what you are going through.   There isn't one answer.    The best I can tell you is to reach out to family, friends, your employer and see what each can help you with and what each needs from you.  Ponder.  Pray.   Then make the decision.   Congratulations on your son's success so far.   May you and your family find the strength, wisdom, peace, love, and balance you all need going forward.

Awesome news man.  Is it the new Ronald McDonald house on Grand?  I remember them building it when I used to work in the area a couple years ago and it looked great.
