Would you want Marquette to play in the CBI Tournament?

Yes
No

brewcity77

The CBI takes at least a couple teams with losing records every year. I haven't found any 13-19 teams, but Matt Velazquez says there is precedent for it. Would you want Marquette to play in the CBI?

The tournament does require an entry fee, but it's not like Marquette can't afford it with our basketball budget. We didn't play last year because I think everyone was ready to cut bait with the Buzz Williams era and most of the key players weren't coming back.

Would it be good for Duane, Fischer, Jajuan, and the other returning players to get some postseason experience, or do you just want this season to be over and say goodbye to Derrick, Juan, and Carlino once and for all?

tower912

MU won't be asked.   But if they were, I would say yes.   More game reps for the young guys.

Embarrassing that this question is even being asked. 13-19 teams aren't worthy of playing postseason basketball.

GGGG

Sure.  Why the hell not?

This.

Plus we'd still be playing so that's always a good thing.

Marquette_g

As much as I want this nightmare of a season to end, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't tune in.

ChitownSpaceForRent

Give some time for Duane to pad his freshman stats for all time leading scorer.

nyg

13 and 19 with your last game losing by almost 40, not gonna happen.

brewcity77

Not asking if you think it will happen. Asking if you would want this team to play in the CBI if given the opportunity. It wouldn't surprise me if they asked some teams with losing records before they asked small-conference teams just to get more fan interest.

Then of course yes.  Then play the youngsters for next year.

Nukem2

Why not.  Give the young guys more experience and confidence.

Penn St was in last year's field with a losing record.

hdog1017

They should only be allowed to play pick up games at the Rec Center

NotAnAlum

Please let the season end.  In fact in my mind it ended at the end of the SH game.  5 new recruits, maybe more, on to next year!

Richie

I'm always disappointed when our season ends, so I say yes.

PuertoRicanNightmare

I'd say yes, but I seriously doubt we'd be invited after finishing 9th in a 10 team league.

Last year, I'd have said no.

GGGG

Bill Scholl apparently told Velasquez that its not going to happen.  "Not the right fit."

Richie

Matt V. tweet says no CBI, per Scholl

Dawson Rental

Only one of the Mache twins has scored in the post season, so I say yes.

I agree about not wanting to go last year.

This year - give Wojo and the returning guys more time playing/practicing.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Thank God.

Let the guys rest up, heal up, and get into individual workouts.

Is that code for "we've tortured our alums enough"

I guess it would make MU too SLU like.

The portal is NOT closed.

PuertoRicanNightmare

Can I just say I love the fact that we don't hear a lot about Scholl. A pleasant change from his predecessor. I don't even know where Scholl's kids go to college.

Groin_pull

A 13-19 team has no business being anywhere near a post-season tournament.
