We are Marquette.

We do not storm floors.

We storm avenues after we win national championships.

mugoose

pretty sure we stormed in the late '90's after a Cinci win...maybe '97. could have sworn Wardle was on team

Storming the court is old.  I say we all bring sabres along, and conquer the court if we win.

As long as you cut out and eat the hearts of the vanquished.
That way, you will assume their strength and overall FG%.

I thought the flag was the second year. But the court was stormed in back to back years after beating Cincinnati. 2002 to celebrate our rebirth of being a decent program and for most purposes assuring our first tournament in 5 years. 2003 to celebrate the Conference USA championship.

Don't forget the 2004 MU-Louisville game where Dameon Mason hit a baseline shot, got fouled, and made the free throw to go ahead with about a second left.

Eh...

I stormed the court during O'Neill's first year when we beat Notre Dame.  1989 I believe.

Who am I to judge?

I remember that.  It was like symbolically being released from the Dukiet era.

Less than 500 tickets left and thankfully the weather will be pretty nice considering what this week is like. I think it will be the best crowd of the season, at least so far. I wouldn't begrudge a court storm. When you're as mediocre as we are this year, you celebrate what you can.

GooooMarquette

So y'all with me on the sabre thing?

It'd be pretty embarrassing if I'm the only one out there cutting out and eating hearts.

In.  I've got my grandfather's Japanese sword he brought back from Guadal Canal.  Haven't had to use it since some Medieval Larping dork challenged me to a duel with his plastic sword.  He learned the hard way.  I don't play.

That's the spirit!  Can't wait till the ushers surrounding the court see us coming.

Would have loved the opportunity to storm the court.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Rushing the court should only be for big moments... and beating a team we play at least twice a year, in a February game, doesn't feel very big - despite their ranking and the season we're having. Would it be exciting to win? Of course. Would I be mad if a rushing of the court happens? No. I just think it's more of a David vs. Goliath reaction. And with our pedigree and budget, we're not exactly a textbook David.

That said, go nuts if we win. Have fun.

Saturday afternoon game against Nova? Judging by the Georgetown game, we're still drawing big games against the old big east teams (non basements)

No.  Act like we've been champions before and expect to be again.

But, this team hasn't.

Babybluejeans

Storm it baby. Last time I can remember was 2004 against 'ville. We were unranked and they might have been too, but it was just a release after a frustrating season...not unlike this one.

Never understood why people treat storming the court like it's some sacred rite; it's college kids being excited. If it's a close game and an exciting finish, I bet they do it. And they should.

We've done that once. 38 years ago. I don't think we've earned the right to hold up our noses up like some Dookie. You might also remember that the team that won it was known for some behavior that made the other blue bloods uncomfortable.

While I personally don't agree this is a perfect storm the court scenario, I say go wild. It's been a long season. Students haven't had much to cheer about. Knocking off the number 6 team when your team is under .500? Might as well.

Is this what our program has come to?

Yikes!

Two years ago, we were in the Elite 8. We had a strong incoming recruiting class. The trend line was up and the Hillbilly was viewed as a miracle worker.

It can happen again. If we want it. If the university wants it and if the level of investment Marquette makes in basketball continues, we will be on Wisconsin Avenue again. In the meantime, lets act like champions even if we're not quite there yet!

Yes, I know it has been 38 years ago. The lack of hair on my head and the additional insulation around my mid-section are clear reminders that it has been a long time coming. But I also do not give up hope (and, NO, I AM NOT A CUB FAN! IN FACT, I DESPISE THE CUBS!). We're doing too much "right" not to feel like we again have a shot at something really special.

Finally, as far as the behavior goes, it was the 1970s. Sure our guys did some things that by today's standards might be judged differently. Well, we all did!

Exactly.  "Have fun" is right.  If the students want to storm the floor if we win Saturday, knock yourself out.  You will get no criticism from me.

I'd say no-but given the overall malaise of the season I wouldn't lambast anyone for it-

Actually, after this season, the ups and downs of last season, if Marquette were to up-set Villanova, I think storming the court, the Bastille, and Omaha beach might well all be in order.  :)

Exactly. These students are suffering through a historically bad season. If the team pulls it off and they storm the court so what. That's the type of thing that can turn a casual fan into a diehard. It also gives the team a reminder that the students are still behind them. It has been a tough year on everybody and would be a nice release along with helping to feed into the anticipation for next year.

We all forget how few of us have been able to experience the rush of the Championship and dominate years. 2003 and 2013 are the closest we have come. Twice in 38 years, not a lot to get super excited about.

Should Holy Cross, San Francisco, LaSalle, and Loyolla never rush the court as well?
