I'd say no-but given the overall malaise of the season I wouldn't lambast anyone for it-

Only time I'd ever think it was ok is beating 1-5 sadly Nova comes in just shy.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

it would be a lame court rush when only 9 students attend the games...

It's not embarrassing if it only happens in your dreams.

So, it wouldn't take long and no one would notice.    Besides, it would be one fan per player.

Of course you do. Having a terrible season and Marquette will be double digit dogs at home.

What's the pulse on the fanbase coming into this game?  Is National MU day still big enough to generate the insane crowds it did a few years ago when we were relevant?

I'm heading in to town Friday night and just want to get a feel for what people think the crowds around town are going to be like.

Crowds?

Crowds?

Back in 2012 National MU Day was a crap show.  Couldn't get a seat at any of the places right around the BC.  Should I be expecting a ghost town Saturday?

Blackhat

I'd like to see BC staff shoot t-shirts at the students from point blank range for crowd control.

No storming for a team we should be on par with.

As a program? Sure.  This very year? Definitely not.

Someone posted that there were "a few hundred" or "limited" seats remaining to the game.  Figure a decent 16-17k crowd.

Aughnanure

I've never seen a storming of the court in this Millennium (maybe I'm missing one from pre-Big East days). I'm pretty sure MU makes it hard for the students to really get on the court. I'd doubt it regardless.

Program.

Interesting I've never thought about whether or not a victory warranted a court storming based on the quality of programs involved.

Simeone else said there were 5,000 still available on stubhub etc.  I didn't check so don't know. Still, should be a decent crowd I would think.

Maybe that person was being dramatic -- there are 355 seats on Stubhub.

I have two extra right now if anyone needs tickets.

2003 when we won Conference USA. That's where the picture of Wade holding the American flag comes from.

Right team, wrong year. That pic was from 2002, when they ended #4 Cincinnati's 20 game winning streak.

If I remember right that was also when everyone realized we were on the verge of achieving something special....

I thought the flag was the second year. But the court was stormed in back to back years after beating Cincinnati. 2002 to celebrate our rebirth of being a decent program and for most purposes assuring our first tournament in 5 years. 2003 to celebrate the Conference USA championship.

No doubt. That game gets overlooked, but to me, it was a turning point of sorts. MU was having a nice year, but exploded after that win.

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of that game.

No.  Act like we've been champions before and expect to be again.

Although an unpopular perspective, especially in today's self-promoting, attention-starved society, I agree with this.  Act like you've been there before.

I've got plenty of MUBB stories to tell my grandchildren someday, and the best part is that none of them involve me making a public spectacle.

I remember my dad saying after that game, "It feels like we're finally back." He was right.

I'd like to take your second point a little bit further and say that it would be nice if someone was able to set up an old MU game/highlight repository online...especially for consolation during a season like the one we're having. There's just not a whole lot for MU on YouTube, compared to a lot of other schools.

There was a stretch when we first joined the Big East when some people were at least torrenting games. I had a few, like the 2006 home games vs. UConn, ND, Georgetown, and Pitt. That laptop is long dead, though, so I'm of no help.
