Awesome!!!!  Great to see JFB succeed in the Association.

Vander Blue Man Group

That's fantastic.  As a Bulls fan it is so much fun having him on the team.  I recall having to explain to a few idiot fans that he was a better pick than Marshon Brooks, who went a couple of picks earlier than him.  I never expected this kind of offensive improvement this year but am thrilled to be wrong about that.  He's a definite fan favorite as well.

It's a regional issue.  Those don't count.
I think SI does regional covers like 45 weeks a year now.

and the SwimSuit issue is one of those.  If Hannah Davis is jinxed, does she wind up with a Scooper? Or, does she get a Derek Jeter STD?

+1!!!!

This is the kiss of death

Absolutely. I mean after SI put Jordan on the cover 804 times, he never went on to do a single thing of note!

Jordan was on the cover 49 times, not 805, and he is cited as the exception.

This lists about 200 examples including of the jinx working,

So, if that is 123 (if I counted right) examples of the jinx working...that's 123 out of a bit over 3100+ covers (based upon the number of weeks since the 8/16/54 launch)?  So, I guess we can agree that if an athlete and/or team is on the cover, there's a less than 5% chance of something bad happening.  Not much of a jinx.

But what percent were Cubs covers of that 5%?

Turn it around, why does the jinx work?

Because an athlete or team has to so outperform to get noticed and make the cover that it is impossible to continue that that rate or success.  The exception is Jordan which is why he is the greatest ever.  That is why they make the cover and the next thing that happens is a downturn.

So the question is ... has Butler so outperformed to make the cover that he cannot continue at this level of success?  If so, the jinx will kick in?

So you're saying it has nothing to do with a "jinx," and everything to do with the fact that many athletes have already peaked by the time they make the cover?  You seem to be arguing against yourself here....
