Depaul beats X

Shall we repost all the stupid DuaneWade and Willie comments after we lost?

tower912

Don't start reposting all of their stupid comments.   You would be here all night.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

HutchwasClutch

So much for DePaul being a "bad" loss as many have asserted here.  I'm not saying DePaul is that good, they'll likely fade, but it goes back to we're not nearly good enough this year to say a loss to them is "bad".

LegalEagle15

It may not be a "bad" loss in the sense we lost to a bad team, rather it was a "bad" loss in that they were up 12 and never responded to DePaul's run. It's frustrating to watch your team outplay another for 30 minutes and squander that play by poor performance down the stretch.

brandx

Enough with the "good" and "bad" losses, already. Depaul is 2-0 AT HOME. Seton Hall is 2-0 AT HOME. They both go on the road this week.

Everyone hold hands and chant - "It's hard to win on the road in the Big East, It's hard to win on the road in the Big East....."

Stop it! DePaul was 6-7 coming into the game against us. They had lost 6 straight. There were more of our fans than theirs in the building. We led by 13 with 11 minutes remaining. It was a bad loss.

Why did they beat Xavier today too then?  The same Xavier team who beat Georgetown 72 hours ago.

GGGG

Why do we have this obsession with labelling things like "bad loss" or "transition year."  It was a game we should have won.  We will likely win a game we should have lost during the year too.

Regardless it was a loss.  No reason to argue about the label we should put on it.

Did anyone think the Hall was going to beat #15 STJ and #6 Nova even if it was at home?  Did anyone think Depaul, coming in with a 6 game losing streak was going to win the first two of conference play?

These two are the early season surprises yet your post implies like it should have been expected.

Not expected -but not at all surprising.

Because Xavier isn't very good. They've already lost to UTEP, Long Beach State, and Auburn. Based on their play thus far, they are maybe a NIT team. Watching them, I don't get the love from the preseason coaches poll, the media, or Pomeroy. They just don't look very good.

Exactly right.  Home teams are 9-1.  It'll even out a little once the season wears on, injuries, schedules, and regularity of travel complicate things and allow the most resilient teams to steal a few, but there's your takeaway.  Think we melt down against DePaul at the BC?  Think we don't see an editorial by Duanewade about terrible this team is after today's game if it was at the Donut?

This.  Defend the BC, win a couple on the road, and we can be right in the mix.

Butler with the first conference road win of the year!   SJU with problems.

Definitely. It's just tough because we already lost our best chance at a road win. Need to go 8-1 (or so) at home and win 3 road games. Doubt we can, but I'll remain optimistic until we mathematically cannot any longer.

FWIW, one of my buddies has accepted full responsibility for the DePaul loss.

He confessed to me that at the exact time we were up by 14, he was uploading a picture of a fat lady singing to his Facebook page.

He apologizes for jinxing the team.
Have some patience, FFS.

Tar and feather him. No excuse for that.  ;D

If losing to DePaul on the road is what was needed to get the team focused on the gospel according to Wojo, then it's all to the good.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

bilsu

It was a bad loss. They are not good and they suspended their starting center for the game. Anyway you look at it, we should be in first place.

Time for DePaul to give Purnell a 6 yr extension

Given JLP's horribleness she'll make it eight.

On the other side, Seton Hall may be seeing rewards for keeping faith with Willard.  He had a very tall order, but it always seemed like he knew what he was doing to build a program.

San Diego Warrior

Only two unbeatens in conference play.  Crazy start to the conference.
