Anyone know if he'll be eligible to play against ASU?

Only if he wears Dawson's jersey. None of the refs have seen him this year anyway so they won't know what he looks like.

Wojo just put the call in.  It's all worked out.  We just signed him to a 5 year deal.  His jersey will be waiting at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Only the second half.

The inability of this board to understand years of eligibility following a mid-season transfer is baffling.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

So you're saying we can retroactively apply his stats to the games we've already played this season, right?
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

That's how I took it. Assuming we're only talking about points here, Semi has scored a total of 18 so far this year. So do we erase that Nebraska-Omaha debacle or take a 7 point win over Bucky at home?

If only he had scored 2 more points then we could have taken a 1 point win over Nebraska-Omaha with 11 points to spare, the same amount of all three of our losses. Would that mean that we could choose a tie between Bucky, Ohio st or Mich st?

Neutral court overtime? On an air craft carrier? Buzz's former Mequon mansion court? Dammit where's the Tanned one when you need him.

Here is one question that should be asked?  How do you know that Wojo wants him?  Just because he had a high ranking in High School, so does JJJ, how is that working out so
far, not every kid plays to his ranking, that is for sure.  Of course, his size is exactly what MU needs, but can he play?  Sure did not play much this year.

Hoping for a TJ Taylor-Tony Benford type situation, huh?

Indeed.  Baffling is the perfect word.

I believe Wojo was one of the top recruiters on him when they got him to sign with Duke

Per twitter Wisconsin reached out to Ojeleye. Is it safe to assume Wojo already has, with his personal relationship with Semi?

I think what confuses the issue is that MU cannot use Burton's scholarship until next year. As far as the university goes the scholarship is committed for the whole year.
It may be true, but it does not make sense that a player loses a year of eligibility. Unless granted a waiver by the NCAA you have five years to complete your eligibility.
Burton playing 1 1/2 years at MU and 1/1/2 years at his new school plus a year of sitting out only equals four years. I could be wrong, but I think it is 1 1/2, 1 and 2 1/2, which equals 5. Otherwise anybody transferring mid-season is a total idiot.

That was 2 years ago, times change.

The problem is people referring to 1/2 years.  There's no such thing.  As soon as he plays a game it's a full year used up, whether it's during the first or second semester.

Deonte and Semi have now played 2 years, so they only have 2 years left.  They will likely play 2nd semester next year which makes 3, and then have 1 more left.

Very well put. People get confused by the 1/2 year.

OJELEYE BREAKS DOWN TRANSFER PROCESS
Benjamin Worgull 12/15/14
This story was originally published on BadgerNation.com.

In a Scout.com exclusive, former five-star forward and Duke redshirt freshman Semi Ojeleye explains his decision to transfer, his timeline and what he's looking for at his next college.

Semi Ojeleye didn't want to leave Duke.
The former 2012-13 Parade Magazine National Player of the Year, Ojeleye loved his teammates, head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the chance to play at school nuts about basketball.
But with Amile Jefferson and Justise Winslow emerging at Ojeleye's position, the 6-8, 230-pound redshirt freshman wasn't getting many minutes and could see the writing on the wall.
"It was a tough decision because you get used to a lot of guys, build a lot of relationships with people and then decide you have to move on," Ojeleye told Scout.com. "That was difficult but I just felt at this point I needed to go somewhere where I'd have a better opportunity to play and have a better career overall."
Early indications are Ojeleye will have plenty of places of pick from. Less than 24 hours after announcing his decision, Ojeleye – a former five-star recruit by Scout.com – said he's had a lot of schools contact his family, high school coach or AAU coach to gauge his interest.
Having finished his semester at Duke Saturday, Ojeleye is back in his hometown of Ottawa, Kansas. He said he plans to take a couple days to decompress before evaluating his list of offers and set up official and in-home visits.
"The list is decently long," said Ojeleye. "I'll probably take three or four visits and schools can come in home, too. That will save me some time and some traveling."
Coming out of Ottawa Senior high school, Ojeleye picked the Blue Devils out of a final list that included Indiana, Oregon and Stanford. He also considered Arizona, Illinois, UCLA and Wisconsin, among others. Kansas didn't offer a scholarship out of high school, but Ojeleye said the Jayhawks have been in contact.
Having no transfer restrictions, Ojeleye hopes to make his decision by the start of next semester.
"Obviously I want to play, but I want to go where I have a chance to learn and a chance to go to the NCAA tournament," said Ojeleye. "If they have a good coaching staff, a good locker room and my family is all on the same page, that school has a good chance with me going there."
Another school Ojeleye said reached out was Wisconsin, who gave him his first power-five scholarship offer in June 2011. Having visited the campus during the recruiting process, Ojeleye got another look at Wisconsin when the Blue Devils played in Madison Dec.3. Ojeleye did not play in the 80-70 Duke victory, but found himself impressed by the raucous environment between two top-four teams.
"It was another example of what you work hard for and what you want to be a part of," said Ojeleye. "Being able to see what Wisconsin is about, see what kind of support they have and what kind of atmosphere they create gives them a good chance. I think schools like that would be a joy to play for. They are definitely an interest to me after seeing that kind of crowd and atmosphere when we were there."
Having won Duke's offseason strength testing completion each of the last two seasons, Ojeleye appeared in six of the Blue Devils' eight games this season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per game. He has 2.5 years of eligibility remaining.
"I am going to try to take some time, clear my head and make the best decision here in the next couple of weeks," said Ojeleye. "I've gone through the recruiting process and know the questions coaches ask. I've been in college. It's not so much where I'll be staying. It's all about the basketball. I don't know have stress not knowing what I'll be getting into. It's all about finding what's best."
