No disrespect at all to Coach Wardle, but TWO RPI rankings I looked at today have his UWGB Phoenix at numero uno!?!?  How can that be seriously?  Their best win is over the U, they've played UW of course (and got trounced).  I don't get how the computer spits them out as #1 right now in two places.  They're only 4-2.

We're #74 according to ESPN and #77 on realtime, not too bad only 8 games in.  This strong schedule we've started out with, is paying off so far.  Hopefully, will pay off more when we're into conference.  Put together a strong conference season, and we'll definitely be in the NCAA conversation.

For all the hoopla about the Big East start this year, only 4 schools right now in the ESPN RPI top 50, the highest only at #16 ('Nova), and St. John's just sneaking in at #50.  We're next in line after St. John's.

Hope this improves overall for the conference.  Would be nice to get 5-6 in the dance, and it seems possiible this year.

I guess Green Bay is the best team in the state, sorry Bucky.  :D

That's my take away too from this.   ;)

This is my favorite RPI site. Updates daily/as games finish

Thanks MUEagle.    That is a cool site.

RPI is completely useless this early in the season. Come February, then it has something to say.

I suppose, but I don't know if I believe it's totally irrelevant right now.  I think it gives some idea where teams are likely to end up falling.  UWGB is obviously an outlier.

Early admittedly, but I would say the Big East gets five teams in the dance this year.  Those RPI's will rise as Big East teams play each other.  Big East as a conference is ranked second right now.

I disagree. Throw Villanova and Depaul out - and the other 8 teams are all very capable of beating up on each other. Could be that Nova wins 16 and no one else wins more than 12. It's hard for teams to win a lot of games when there is so much equality.

That may happen.  But history shows that not every team sans Nova and DePaul will end up 9-9.  With exception of a couple teams, any team ending up with a winning conference record is going to have a very good RPI and thus make the tourney.  I would guess that will be five teams.  It may only be four but I would say four is the floor for the conference this year.

We're not too much in disagreement here. I think 4 is most likely - with a possibility of 3 or 5.

I think there are seven moderate to strong possibilities.   I see us, DePaul, and Creighton as unlikely.  Otherwise, the seven other schools seem to have a pretty good shot at it this year.   Admittedly, I've seen little of the conference so far (except MU of course), just going by what I've read and heard about them.

I don't disagree. Those 7 may all have a shot but they aren't all going to make it. I see us as better than depaul or Creighton and possibly a couple others - but we'll have to wait and see who is right.

Hey, the Phoenix gave up 84 points with a 24 point margin to Bucky.

We held Wisconsin to almost half that many!

All I know is that Coach Cal is damn glad he doesn't have to match wits with Coach Wardle this season!

Greatest room fall for from grace - UWGB's #6 or Incarnate Word's #40??

Are they overrated?  Yes.  I don't believe that this considers the margin of loss v. UW.

However, they did beat a ranked Miami team in Miami and that is what is holding them up.  And they won a tournament down in Florida earlier in the year.

Should win the Horizon this year.
