So what? If y'all can't see the forest for the trees, there's no hope for America's future. Give the man a chance. He's startin' a 2-3 year rebuildin' process with very little talent and experience, thank you Bumstead. Has a fantastic class comin' in and given time, I'm convinced will bring, not only championships, but also, an elevated national level of prominence to our university.
I'm all for rippin' a new one on pricks who warrant that action, like Crean and Williams, but 3 games into Wojo's regime this is flat out wrong by y'all in cyber land.

Frustrating loss, ye.  But, this team has missingpieces of the puzzle and some pieces that don't fit along with a senior class of nice guys with limited talent.  This is called rebuilding following Brent's departure.  It is what it is.

Regardless of whether he is a new coach or we have missing pieces, a poor Senior class etc. They should not have lost to Omaha at home.  Lets not make excuses for him or this team.  Lets just move on.

I predicted on another board that we would lose a buy game this season.  Short, small roster with no Luke and limited experience and new staff.  Hate it as well.  But, it is what it is.

There's another MU board?

All that talk about Dark Lord Day made me awfully thirsty for April 2015.
Relax. Respect the Process.

Holy Buttkus Batman. I admit I was wrong. Get Buzz back, and Derrick for All American.

Well, then. You're the sonuvabitch responsible for this. I hope you are happy.

I would like to say it can't get worse but realistically ...

I'm not sure what people realistically expected from this team.  This is literally square one.  They are what they are...not very good.  They will be some day, but their D blows and they are so short handed it isn't funny.  Don't underestimate that at the D1 Level.

MUfan12

This was embarrassing. I want to give Wojo the benefit of the doubt, but after this much practice time, to look this bad defensively... Yikes.

This is what people need to understand.

We WILL be good. Maybe not this year, but next year, almost definitely. This team wasn't a team until a few months ago. They literally just found out today that they are terrible in transition in high tempo games.

Wojo had no idea (it's not like Buzz left him a laundry list of things to work on or what does or doesn't work with the team). Ohio St showed signs of it, but I'm sure it wasn't thought to be this bad. Once we address that issue, which we will, we'll address the next issue. The kids on our team are all top level athletes this year, it's not like they forgot how to play basketball all of a sudden. If we played half-way decent transition D, we would've been in a nail biter with Ohio State @ Ohio State.

It's all part of the fun of watching these kids (and coach) learn!

I get it.

But looking at this team and last year's team, you have to also say, "No excuse for not making the NCAAs last year."

Yep. Very little talent on this years team. Folks need to take off the goggles. Buzz really left the table empty. Not Wojo's fault. He was dealt a very weak hand.

Autoengineer

I don't know that Buzz left this team without talent.  He left the team with almost no playing experience.  He refused to play the young guys and now the team is paying the price.  The good news is that they will get better.

Much better MU teams have suffered worse loses than what happened Saturday and world kept spinning.

Good point.  The two guys with any experience are Juan and Derrick.  I don't think we need to revisit that topic--we heard it all last year.  All of the talent Buzz left us with is really in the sophomore class, which got limited playing time last year.  Our only junior has rarely seen the court. We are essentially starting 3 freshmen.  I don't see Carlino mixing in well at all yet.  None of these guys seems used to working with the others on d, where any help was nonexistent.  Some nice assists, but a fair amount of turnovers on offense as well.  I believe they will get better, but lets not lose sight of the significant limitations we have, particularly size and experience.  And depth.  And a lack of a history working together, and in a new system.

Sometimes reality sucks.

Before this game, did you know anything about Nebraska-Omaha? Or would you be making this post whether the loss was to Nebraska-Omaha, Georgia State, or UC-Santa Barbara simply because it isn't a familiar name?

mu_hilltopper

I don't buy the "we're starting 3 freshmen" excuse.

For every 1 minute of actual game PT, there's, what, an hour of practice?  These guys have plenty of court experience and talent to not let a transitional D2-D1 team hang 97 on them on their home court.
