Will a MU Alum Be The Next President Of US? (Thank UW)
« on: November 05, 2014, 10:36:57 AM »
Love him or hate him, Walker is now a national force in US politics and he is way up the short list of republican nominees for President.

And why is this?  You can thanks the uber-lefties from UW and Madison.  By losing their mind and pulling out every stop to get rid of him (protests, recalls, indictments) they gave him and opportunity to beat them all and turned him into a power political force.  They would have been better off sitting back and waiting until he stumbled an attacked.  Too late now.

So thank UW for turning a MU alum into the most powerful alum from either school.

It would be cool if a guy who couldn't cut it at Marquette were president someday.

I mean, I will have something the most powerful man in the world wouldn't: a Marquette diploma.

OK, so I'd gladly trade the diploma for Air Force One. That isn't the point ...

Yes he did not graduate but he did something better, his ability to show he can beat liberals/democrats like a rented mule means a lot more.

No.

I'm seen it written several times that the Wisconsin press gives him a free pass regardless what he does.  The few times he's done national interviews he's been a deer in the headlights (and the best known one was FOX News interview none-the-less).  The national news outlets won't give him the same courtesy as Wisconsin ones and all the baggage will come out.

Probably not. But seeing the Democrats immolate in Wisconsin for the third time in 4 years is as close to heaven as exists in politics.

Scott Walker is Tim Pawlenty, minus the likeability.
So, no.

Can't argue that he has been good for Wisconsin. Glad to see an MU connection do well, regardless of ideology.
Any idea where his boys go to college?

Walker may run in 2016, but he definitely won't be on the ticket.

After all, a party's nominee for president and vice-president cannot hail from the same state*... and there's absolutely no way that Walker gets on a ticket before Paul Ryan.

Walker would do himself well to focus on Wisconsin for a full term, and postpone any presidential ambitions for 2020 or beyond.

Yes he did not graduate but he did something better, his ability to show he can beat liberals/democrats like a rented mule means a lot more.

But that's not what this country needs, and I think the fact that the last three presidents have all lost their party's control of Congress speaks loudly about the growing sentiment that polarization and legislating from the tip of the wings is not in the best interests of Americans.

*EDIT - Technically, you can have a Pres/VP from the same state; however, there are potential consequences under the 12th Amendment that would make it highly improbable that either party would even nominate Pres/VP candidates from the same state.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Tammy Baldwin begs to differ.  Congrats you won a midterm election, as someone who works in politics I can tell you it's a widely known fact that republican turn out is higher for these elections. Democrats tend to vote on passion created by presidential campaigns and thus dont come out for these. See you in two years, don't forget your vice presidential candidate was from WI and you still managed to lose the state in the presidential election in 2012 lol really seems immolate.

Man, you really set up that statement of the obvious!

I wasn't going to believe this... but you work in politics.

So, you are saying that it's only Republicans who vote based on facts and logic.

Okay, I can buy that.
Have some patience, FFS.

Really?  Ok I get that it's semi-applicable to MU.  But this is gonna get out of hand.

Maybe if he runs we'll allow one long thread for people to discuss him.
