Dr. Blackheart

Speaking at Cobeen and Schroeder on Monday, then the Beer Can on Tuesday to drum up student support.

Ha.  I remember when Hank and Rick came to the basement of Schroeder to talk about the team. There was this kid from Maywood that Hank was talking up.

I think this is really cool but I mean has support fallen that much in a year that we need him to do dorm visits? Though doesn't change that I think it's cool.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Wifey went to Syracuse for two years before transferring to MU (emotional scars still healing...), and said that Boeheim did the same thing. Doubt he needed to drum up support. Just sayin'

Maybe he was scouring the dorms to replace his wife with a younger model again.

Yes, but will he be playing the piano too?

Judging on the amount of booing we got from students last season, it might be warranted.

Eh, I think it was deserved. Again, it was pointed towards Buzz more than anyone else. There wasnt a whole lot to look forward to at games last year.

I apologize for being on a high horse, but I don't think booing your own team is ever appropriate. When your team is struggling, that's when they need their fans the most.

Not to mention that it's extremely naive and disingenuous to revise history by claiming the boo-birds were directed at Buzz more than anyone else. MU people turned on their players last season just as they've been seen to do previously.

I think it can be appropriate if you are unhappy about something within the team or players' immediate control.  I would never boo if our team was losing if they were playing their hearts out and were simply less talented than the opponent.  But if they looked like they were being lazy out there, yeah, I might boo.
Have some patience, FFS.

Pathetic. If someone was on your grade school team losing would you boo? High school team? What about if during the Greek Olympics a bunch of independents showed up and were booing when you had the ball but then later said "we weren't booing you. Just the frat" it's not cool to do and direct it at whoever you want it's not like they know where your boos are heading.

Booing 18- to 21-year-old amateurs (well, sorta) because you feel from your seat 27 rows up that they aren't trying hard enough is bush.

tower912

Two years of Majerus, two years of Dukiet.   Never booed once.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

DienerTime34

Definitely not exclusive to poor teams or seasons. Loudest Boo-birds I ever heard was the Three Amigos' senior year, when Dominic James' free throw shooting fell below 50%. A sold-out BC booed him and the team mercilessly after a particularly bad game at the line.

Agreed. Last year people didn't just boo Buzz, they were all over Jake, Derrick and Jamil. It was the worst I'd heard since 77 when the fans were all over Al. Neary and (to a lesser extent) the rest of the team. Success breeds entitlement. Entitlement eventually gets ugly.

It's never, ever deserved. Absurd.

The preferred route would be silence but in the heat of the moment adopting that behavior is very difficult.

Odds that he becomes ill after visiting Cobeen and is forced call it a day?

I have never even booed the Bucks or Brewers and those guys are pros.........

Sometimes the team plays so bad that I can't cheer but I would never turn against them by booing.....

I've booed Ryan Braun.  Other than that I can't really think of a time that I've booed my own team.

Very slim.

You never boo your team. Period.
