If it is a high ankle sprain he is possibly  out for the non conference season.

I would say "tweaked" rather than twisted. Unless you know more than I do.

After the collision, he played the rest of the scrimmage.  If it was a high ankle sprain, he wouldn't have been able to do that.  Likely just precautionary.

Whether it's a sprain or a strain is key.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

High Ankle sprain 8 weeks  and up
Low Ankle sprain up to 4-6 weeks
Not uncommon for people to play through injury when it first happens and then it makes it worse. I am not saying he had a high ankle sprain but being in a boot gives some cause for concern. Hopefully it is more a garden variety type.

The general consensus on this board is that the Marquette training staff are big believers in pulling out a boot as a precaution for any kind of ankle malady sight or not.  Many players have been seen wearing a boot without missing the next game, much less a portion of the season.  Hopefully, that is the case here.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Stop it. 8 weeks is possible but definitely not the norm. A month should be expected but at the same time it probably wont go much beyond that.

What kind of ankle sprains are you experiencing?  That sounds brutal.  Of course some are worse than others, but unless there is a partial or full tear of the ligaments then no, ankle sprains do not take anywhere near that long to heal.  Kevin Durant just broke his ankle and needed surgery.  He is out for 6-8 weeks.  A high ankle sprain does not take 8+ weeks to heal.  Heck, Keith Bogans played against Marquette 2 days after a high ankle sprain (I understand he was limited, but no way it's an 8+ week recovery).

I expected a series of posts mocking past threads about boots. Instead, it's business as usual. I love it!

Don't undersell it. The painful truth is that Carlino might never play basketball again. I just hope he can lead a meaningful life.

Honestly guys, this board is becoming unreadable and that's very unfortunate.  A player goes down hard and tweaks his ankle, re-laces his shoes and plays on according to the new JS beat reporter who was on the scene. Later, that same player is seen with a precautionary boot on to allow for minimal stress and some yahoo behind an internet screen name fans the 'sky is falling' flames.  What rational person really believes that a training staff would allow him back on the court if he were going to be out for an extended period?

On a related note, I'm pleased that Sam Dekker seems to be okay.  I never want to see players get injured.
