The proliferation of late starting non-conference home games is getting irritating:

UT-Martin  8:30pm (okay, it's a Friday)
NJIT 8pm (Monday)
ASU 8pm (Tuesday)
Ala A&M 8pm (another Friday)
N. Dakota 8pm (Monday)
Morgan St. 1pm (Sunday - Not late, but the Packer game against Detroit is scheduled to start at noon, could be flexed to 3:25pm)

I don't mind it (too much) for the BE games, of which there are three mid-week 8pm starts.  That's 8 of 17 home games starting 8pm or later.

And yes, I understand it's all about TV.

And I'm getting old.

Now get off my lawn!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Nielsen

What can you say, TV controls start times.

Grandpa is cranky when you keep him up past his bedtime,

I'm not complaining, and I have to drive 100 miles after the game to get home.
Have some patience, FFS.

Not really that big a deal if you think about it.

I think it could begin to have a negative impact on attendance - season ticket holders with kids or early starting jobs skipping those games (which doesn't impact the announced attendance, but certainly impacts the game atmosphere) or non-season ticket holders passing all together.

We R Final Four

If you win......they will come.

We may be ,moving into the age where people need more than just the game to come, i mean you can watch every game on TV in HD. There has to start being more benefits to going to games, especially cupcake games. I don't know what they could do,but they may have to get creative.

You guys heard it here. I get to ride shotgun and snooze.

As long as we are one of the three schools in our conference an hour behind the other 7, we will have these late starts.  The doubleheader can start at 7 EST with an east coast game and then move "west" for the late game.

Adding SLU and another Midwestern team (Wichita? Or uh...uh...) would keep us from having to be the late game every time.

If FS1 could get the rights to PAC 12, WCC, or WAC games too, then they could do double headers with Big East at 7 EST and then the west coast game at 9.  Wishful thinking I guess...

Offer free admissions to women. Becomes an inexpensive date night.

Think so? Have you seen how much they charge for a beer at the BC?

We wore army field jackets back in the day. 12 Dog Styles fit comfortably inside that beast.

But later start times have a much greater positive effect on student attendance.

I live in the Eastern time zone which is an hour later. Take a nap.

MUDPT

Don't mind the 8PM starts, just wish the NCAA would try and keep the game to 2 hours.  The timeouts, plus the extra foul calls made for some 2:15/2:20 games (I'm looking at you home Georgetown game).

FS1 does have the rights to 20 plus Pac-12 games and Conf. USA

Maybe a brand new arena with lots of amenities and additional entertainment options would do the trick?

ChunkyChip .. I am right there with you about the 8pm start times.  Brutal.

My wife and I usually scan the schedule to break the games into 3 clusters .. games we don't want to miss and need babysitters, games that we could get a couple extra tickets and bring the boys (non-conference), and games that we should find someone to take the tickets.

Since a ton of the non-con games are 8pm, we won't be taking our kids to those .. gonna be a lot of games we pass on.
