Would like Jay bee's take on this.

I see no way we are #2 if we get cheatum and Ellenson. Probably top 5, but we won't beat Arizona, Louisville, or Duke. And we all know Kentucky always get their players.

I'm pretty sure it just means we would have the #2 class as of right now if they both committed. I think this potential class will end up being in the 5-10 range when all is said and done.

That's what I figured, but I think we'd be #4 now - not #2. And Kentucky will be ahead of us at the end as well.

I just used the class calculator on 247sports because I was curious and we would be #2 with 50.03 points, only behind Arizona. I fully expect that Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, etc, would pass us. Looking at the past few years, 50.03 points would put us right about #9 at the end.

Not close to #2 when all said and done. But good enough players to make us #2 or #1 in the nation in due time!

10-15? Maybe even a little better? Sure.

We are also assuming that Haanif and Henry would be it. We are in on a couple of other top 100 players. Wojo may elect to oversign or players could decide to transfer or go pro.

Classes that are in that range based on ESPN:

#14 2009: Cadougan #76, Maymon #79, Williams #95, Mbao, Buycks and DJO

#17 2010: Blue #31, Jones #53, Smith, Crowder, Gardner

#12 2013: Johnson #27, Wilson #53, Burtion #39, Dawson, and McKay

Now maybe it's just me but Heldt, #49 Noskowiak, #78Cheatham, and #5 Ellenson seem like they'd be loads better than all of those.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

We got S-16, S-16, E8 out of those first two classes.   May we land them both and Wojo be as successful.

Even if we get those 2, MU will have 13 scholarship players.  Considering MU would have 4 Frosh, 3 Sophs (1 transfer, 1 redshirt), 5 juniors ( 2 who are transfers), I do not see any transfers except maybe one (Cohen), and why think him, from Wisconsin.  So I see no one leaving at all.  Signs those 2 and says good-night to the others he is tracking.  I wonder the following year
when he only has 1 scholarship available and he already has Sam Hauser in his sight.  All I know in 3 years a line-up of:

Fisher
Ellenson
Burton
Wilson
Cheatham or JJJ

Throw in some good back-ups, they should be really good.  Now they all have to pan out and think about there rankings in High School but there improvement in College.  Hope they can
play D, lots of offensive talent.  Can they play together as well??  Big question marks.

Interesting that the best two players in this class turned out to be the ones who weren't ranked coming out of high school.

Wouldn't that be somewhat of a bad idea due to the fact that if WOJO over signs hes basically telling someone they got to go. Is that bad or does it not really matter.

Come on down Haanif, we need you, plus Milwaukee is a great city.

River rat

often times those top rankings go to the larger classes.  with a 4 man class of those 4 players i couldnot care less where the class is ranked.  falling behind a 7 player class with say 3 top 100 kids is an abberation of the system

Haanif and Cheathum are one and the same. Let's shoot for signing more than just him.

For sure.

Well, maybe I gave Gardner the slight edge over Blue because he was at Marquette for 4 years and had a really nice senior season while Vander was off not playing in the NBA. But I wouldn't argue with anybody who would rank Blue ahead of Gardner.

Probably not the most ethical thing, but it is a fairly common practice.

Really?  Blue was a better college player in his 3 years, than was Gardner through 3 years..or even 4?  Blue was awful as a freshman.  Not much better as a sophomore.  Improved mightily as a junior - yet side by side Junior year to Junior year - I'm hard pressed to say Vander Blue was a better player.  Vander had some big moments as a junior for sure, yet given that he was so bad as a freshman/sophomore - it made his junior year seem better than it really was. As has been pointed out numerous times - his junior year was really no better than was Todd Mayo's last year.  Here's Gardner and Blue side by side as Juniors:

You are completely ignoring the defensive side of the court again.

Regardless, I think it is pretty hard to compare the two of them.  You have a defensive oriented perimeter player who had to improve a ton just to get to "decent" on the offensive end, versus a offensive oriented post player who was a weak defender.
