Anyone planning on going?

https://muconnect.marquette.edu/events--reunions/registration/2014-chicago-coaches-luncheon-092414?srctid=1&erid=9552699&trid=b4b9c345-2906-442f-a11f-5be6cd4f42ec

Since I am working in the Loop now, I thought I might swing by.

Also, they are accepting questions in advance to ask the coaches.  Anyone have one they want me to submit?
Have some patience, FFS.

I used to go every year, lots of fun in the pre TC era. It's a small nit to pick because the tickets are inexpensive, but how a single ticket is 30% LESS expensive (per ticket) than 10 tickets purchased together is beyond me. Single $35, table for 10 $500. Maybe you can get 20 tickets for $1500 - very odd.

I'll ring up Wojo and see if he can get me the Amtrak schedule, hey?

4Ever  be sure to get a spot in the Bar Car

Daniel

- $35 per person
- $500 for table of 10 (includes $150 donation split between the Marquette Club of Chicago Endowed Scholarship and the Blue & Gold

Take out the $150 donation and it's the same price

MUBB doesn't have that kinda money, no way the coaches are sitting anywhere but the cheapest seats.

Yes Daniel, I know the add on is classified as a "donation", but whatever you call it have you ever heard of any business that tacks on an EXTRA 30% for buying 10 of something rather than 1?

I still have not recovered from the first KO lunch I attended in 1989 or 1990, when, among other things, he called out a player (I think Mark Anglavar) for being "the dumbest person he had ever met" - but in more colorful language and with examples.  Zoiks.

Sure, but Anglavar's response gave O'Neill the what-for: "Oh yeah? You're the dumbest! And a doody-head!"

Legs, those lunches when KO was coach were great theatre - hilarious stuff. Afterwards we would adjourn into the main bar at the Como Inn and drink the afternoon away talking hoops with Bill Jauss, Skip Mylenski and sometime Bill Gleason.

That couldn't happen now because the reporters would immediately have to tweet, blog and post video.

You won't criticize murderers or rapists, their legit with you because they think some book or voice in their head or whatever told them to do it but you can't wait to sneak into KO's bedroom and start lobbing grenades. Priceless.

I can't imagine what other coach you might be referencing.  Do you know if the other coach treats his wife in a great way?

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

What the F are you talking about?  I will criticize murderers and rapists without problem.  I criticized your boy Buzz for having sexual assaulters on his team.  I criticized the ahole that killed Foley.  I criticized the dickheads that murdered my sister's boyfriend two decades ago.  I criticize murderers and rapists all the time....I'd like to see them cooked alive, but not before their balls are castrated slowly first....I realize that doesn't square with many people here that would like to see them get 3 squares and a cot.

So what the F you are talking about I have no idea.

I didn't think that needed to be in teal.... but I did laugh at your post.

He's an a$$hole's a$$shole, which is why two of the bigger pretty boy's on this board love him....to no one's surprise.  He was a horrific husband, a public drunk and who did things in public that were an absolute joke for a Catholic university, thank God for no cell phones with cameras back then.  He wore out his welcome in Tennessee, Northwestern, Toronto, Arizona, USC.  He is what he is.  He was the right guy to turn a program that was on the brink of going Loyola forever, that's his niche.  As he approaches 60, he has matured to a degree, which wasn't very hard considering where he was.
