Other than the Cohen's encouraging tweet last night, radio silence from the signed recruits.

No one has affirmed they are coming BUT no one has asked for their release either. (Note, Harris is different as he never signed in the first place)

Wojo was spotted today in the AL having lunch so he's in no hurry to go see Hill (he better hurry or the masters is going to lock up Augusta's airport with all the private planes next week).

Wojo has been here four days, what should we read into no movement by the recruits?

* good that no one is asking out (they are seriously considering going with Wojo)

* bad that no one has affirmed (they are unsure of him)

* not surprised no movement after 4 days, patience grasshopper

Thoughts?

Not surprised about anything.  In fact I'm quite happy he's already spoken with and met Sandy as well as talked to some of the other guys (even Flory).  Clearly he's dedicated.  A lot is going on and he will get to the recruits as soon as he can.  To be honest I like that he's focusing on developing relationships with the current players first.

brandx

Being here for 4 days means nothing. Most recruits develop relationships with assistants and head coaches that may last a year or more before they sign. I would not expect any of our recruits to jump right aboard until they develop a relationship with Wojo - if they even do.

Being our recruits with a signed LOI gives Wojo a leg up in getting them to want to still attend Marquette, but we will have to wait a while to see what happens.

The spring signing date is getting closer all the time, and schools are still locking up kids, so, if Marquette's recruits aren't feeling a sense of urgency to get a release from their LOI, I take that as good news for now.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

BM1090

I vote good. They are at least talking to him. Could have asked for their release already.

I would ask for patience. No one knows who Wojo has been in contact with (other than Cohen). At this point, no news is good news. But honestly, if our recruits ask for their release, the world will continue spinning. I've quickly warmed to Wojo and assume he has a good handle on the situation. He knows who is going to stay...and who will want to leave.

It would be nice to keep this incoming class together, but if not, Wojo (and his eventual coaching staff) will recruit solid replacements. I feel good about that.

I would also urge people not to judge Wojo based on whether these recruits stay or go. Not fair to expect a new coach to instantly build relationships with these kids...especially compared to the outgoing coach who has been able to build a connection over a year or two or more.

My thought too.  If you want to leave, you would have spoken up days ago.  Available landing spots are filling up.

If you want to go to VT with Brent, they just say so.  Why put yourself through this process if you want to go yo VT?

AirPunches

Wojo will do his best to keep the guys. I have heard Wojo has been thinking about Hill a lot lately. A whole lot.

bilsu

I would think Wojo has talked to all the recruits on the phone and has scheduled a visit with them. After the visit they can ask out.

But all the spots are filling and the bulk will sign on the 16th.  If you want out, these are critical days to open your recruitment.  Even waiting until Monday risks spots going to others.

Therefore I think no one asking out is a good sign.

Teams would make room for Hill. Pearce and Shayok would probably go mid-major where there will be plenty of openings.

I'm trying to find the article I read this morning...but it was a Kentucky recruiting article and it said if the Harrison twins declare for the draft, they would have playing time available in their backcourt and were going to target Ahmed Hill.

How nice of them to target one of our SIGNED recruits. Be interesting to know when that article was written. Prior to Brent leaving ? Have heard the same regarding hill though. Good chance he ends up at UK. He will be extremely hard to keep.

This is not true. Our recruits asked for their release right when Buzz left.

They were informed that they'd have to wait to be released until the new head coach has talked to them.

Wojo still hasn't talked to most of them.

We are in a holding pattern right now. There is no good news yet since it's been 4 days. Just the bad news that all of our recruits asked to be released and the only reason that they weren't was because of University policy.

They already are loaded up.  Booker #30 (overall), Ulis #33 (overall) guards and Matthews for 2015.

Can't believe alot of scoopers already writing Hill off based on complete nothing said by him/coaches/anybody.  Unless I am missing the statement made by Hill that he requested his release and will consider options.

No. Only Cohen asked for his release. And he has met with Wojo and has yet to formally request it.

Found the article.  Just generic, stating UK "could", not going to, target Hill.

Most importantly, what did he have for lunch?

You are full of $hit, you have no clue who Wojo has talked to or not.  You mean to tell me he has been on the job 4 days and you think he has not even called Hill?  Yeah that is believable.
