Think Todd is actually pretty intuitive...has a good feel for things...his comments on Jamil earlier this season about Jamil just needing to worry about going/balling all out, instead of worrying about where everybody should be on the court, etc. - I felt were enlightening, and well thought out.

In the case of Buzz - Todd also said that it may have seemed we didn't like each other, but he's a guy I'll always talk to the rest of my life.  Having said that, making the statement Buzz leaving was "a change that was needed," seems right on - given some of the comments of the existing players today.  Buzz lost a lot of the guys on that team last year.

Better probably for both MU and Buzz that they parted ways now..

That's a fair point. I think Buzz deviated a little from what made him successful in the first place

ChitownSpaceForRent

You would think though that with all of the tweets the current players are posting that would be a giant red flag that points to Brent for next years class. So long as we keep Cohen and Hill I am perfectly fine with the losses of the other 3.

Buzz taking more arrows than Crean from former team - Chico's will be happy...

Honestly, not happy.  I hate seeing MU coaches leave.  I will, however, continue to be amazed at all the poutrage in how Crean left displayed by people here.  I'm sorry, but Crean went to a blueblood, gave us 9 years, a Final Four, rebuilt the program, the Big East, cool uniforms, kids graduating, Al McGuire center, etc.

Vs Buzzard who leaves for the worst program in the ACC with 2 NCAA bids in 30 years, took less money, trashes the conference and tv partner on the way out, did several piss poor things in the last few years that put MU in some very bad light, etc, etc.

Honestly.....well...it just amazes me.

I've got to agree.  Crean may have burned some bridges with the way he allegedly left MU, but it's hard to blame him for making the decision and very hard to say he didn't do great things for MU while in the position.

I think Buzz also did some great things while head coach, but it seems to be a lot easier to point out his missteps along the way that may have soiled the MU image a bit.

Haven't posted this yet, but it is something that bothered me most of this season...I still recall what Buzz said in his introductory press conference that really impressed me, that the Marquette Program would always be all about our players. I think that was true for a while, but this year in particular, I think he drifted away from that. Hard to quantify or point to specific examples, but it was how I felt most of the year. Now, hearing some of the things we've been hearing it sort of validates that feeling was justified.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens, maybe Wojo can real him back in.

So did Cohen, and it took him all of a day to declare his NLI release after Buzz departure (even though he was mistaken on process).

This was always inevitable since he isn't signed. Still a good shot at ending up here.

MUAlum99

Agree, Fullodds...I'm not shocked.

I was never convinced he was coming - even if Buzz had stayed.

As for "dream school" - didn't Cohen basically say the same thing? And he wasted no time Tweeting out that he was gone after Buzzard left. And now SC's Twitter feed is full of him pimping himself out to UCLA and other schools. I'm convinced he's gone, too.

Didn't Crean recommend Buzz? You make a valid point though.

Out of curiosity, do we have to let recruits out of their NLI's?  Just wondering

No, but if you don't you're going to pay for it later.

Correct, force recruits to stay and hurt future recruiting.

Blast or screw Brent as he heads out the door and hurt the possibility of getting a quality coach.

It's all about managing your reputation.

Not a good decision to hold them to their NLI.  Why would you want someone who is basically being forced against his will to be here.  Plus it will come back to bite us in recruiting. Best to let them go and move on, let Wojo get his own replacements.
