Makes you wonder....

Marquette would still allow him to "pull out"

Withdraw or Pull Out. Either way is fine. Marquette is a Catholic school, after all.

MU asked Gene Keady about a reference on Martin.  I wonder what happened there.

I'm adding Gene Keady to my Christmas card list.

I'll buy the guy hair implants.

Congratulations fellas. This feels like you got revenge on us for Kevin O'Neill, getting our hopes high, only to have them smashed.

Back to the bubble watch for us the next year or two.

This says it all about why we should be thankful this didn't happen.

Color has nothing to do with it.  Questionable recruiting and coaching skills are why I wasn't in favor of him.  Nonetheless, I wish him the best at Tennessee, because he's going to need it now that all of his talent is gone.  My guess is that the petition comes back in the middle of SEC play.

I am holding out hope there is a total mystery candidate still, but sounds like Wojo.

I knew using that reference would entice a few side comments.  I was hoping for an extra haiku, Keefe!  I'm just too burnt out from this last week or so to come up with my own.

Yeah, because fans are always rational when it comes to assessing their coaches and players.

We are!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

My take on this is that MU made it's decision and it's not Martin. Martin "withdrew" to save face with Tennessee.

I would expect an announcement tomorrow.

Is it Wojo or Howland?

Smart $$$ is on Wojo

I would concur.

Removing your name from consideration, is not the same as "passing" on a job offer. No where in this story does it say that Martin was offered the job, or was the top candidate (remaining) for the job.

I won't even begin to make a prediction on who will get the job. Still holding out hope for Howland, but that certainly appears to be unrealistic at this point.

It would have been interesting if MU did this as payback for Kevin Oneill.

wadesworld

Just like when Howland removed his name because we were hiring Shaka...

amen426

When did Howland remove his name?

StillWarriors

I won't pre-judge Wojo before he even has a chance to show what he can do if he is the one, but I am concerned that he won't be the type of hire that will keep recruits on board. Truly, that is the biggest disappointment with the whole Shaka fiasco; I feel pretty confident he would have kept the incoming class. Can't fault Cords etc.., they made a strong play for him.

I'm going with this too. Nice, TAMU.
