I didn't either, other than Dayton is a bit of a hole of a city. But then again, so is Milwaukee.

+1.  Never understood the hatred for ud on this board.  I have been there a few times.

Great school.  The ghetto is a blast.

Really happy for Dayton.  BIG basketball town.  They need to represent the Catholic schools!

How would you view the BE if we took Dayton instead of Butler, had 5 bids and an E8 appearance?

Jet915

I don't think anyone has an issue with Dayton the school, it's some of their fans that people have an issue with.  Anyone think Final Four will = invite?  They are an institutional fit for sure.  Their two negatives was proximity to Xavier and lack of NCAA success.  Final Four pretty much erases one negative.  If they make Final Four, invite them along with SLU.  This keeps it private, adds two solid programs.  SLU is rebuilding next year but having a good Dayton team returning will help offset that and you add two "institutional fits."  I think it was between Dayton, VCU and Richmond for #12 anyways, minus well just add them now if the make the Final Four.

The A10 and BE will merge in a 16 team non-football league.  It will be called the BE

aren't some A10 schools playing football currently?  URI for example?

They are not coming to the BE, only the non-football schools

Dayton has been consistent the last few years.  I would love them to come to the Big East to reestablish their old rivalry with MU.

Nonetheless, they probably lucked a little with their draws.  They were better than OSU and Syracuse just hadn't been playing well the last month.  Stanford was a matchup that was in Dayton's favor.  Nonetheless, they pulled out 3 wins in the tourney.  Perhaps Miller should have waited to sign his extension.  I think they will put up a decent fight against Florida.  Hopefully, anything that has been better than the last 2 rounds of play which have been subpar for the tourney.

I still wouldnt take them. Who knowd how long Archie will be there.

They have been pretty good for a while.  They have had a great run in the tourney, but in the regular season weren't that much better than previous seasons.  They can maintain success without Archie.

jt92

Wait until they join our conference and they move the tournament out of MSG and into their arena and then tell us how much you love them! Ironclad deal with MSG my ass! They'll be playing in Dayton!

Unreal.  Now Dayton is a game away from the final four and NOW everyone wants them added to the BE.  I was all for them in last year's post and got blasted with suggestions the Iona or Richmond would be better options because they were better programs.  We need to add them and St. Louis now.  Especially good now that Miller got his extension.  Need a deeper pool to fill the void when good programs fail like MU and Gtown did this year.

I've always wanted Dayton in the BE.  Give me them and a consistent team from the A10 to give the BE some more depth.

Maybe we should invite Richmond so Marquette isn't completely spurned by the state of Virginia

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no.

Congrats to Dayton, but they absolutely do not belong in our conference. This year changes nothing. If they're playing in the 2nd weekend a few more times in the next 5 years, and with a coach after Archie, then maybe. Three wins does not make a school qualified to join the BE.

I don't see why we need to add anyone. There's nobody out there who will raise the reputation of the BE.

Why do you guys insist that there is a correlation between number of team in the tourney and number of teams in the conference?  I mean, look at this year alone

1)  Big XII: 10-team conference, 7 bids
2)  SEC:  14-team conference, 3 bids

Congrats to the Flyers

Still don't want them in my conference when there are much better options out there

Could not agree more, I don't understand how people completely change their minds over a team who got hot and won 3 games in the tourney.  No disrespect to Dayton, what a run and I am rooting for them, but this is a team that made their first Sweet 16 in 35 years last weekend.....that is pathetic.
