Sunday morning:
Doc speaks to Shaka, briefly conveys positive feedback to Cords.  Broeker misinterprets & informs some BoT members of "done deal," despite deal not actually being done.

Sunday evening:
Cords and Fr. Wild speak with Doc.  Doc clarifies SS concern with lack of leadership.
Cord and Wild get BoT exec committee and pres. search committee on the line.  Decision made to accelerate pres hiring.

Monday morning:
Dr. Lovell contacted, accepts position & briefed on SS.

Monday afternoon:
Phone call to Dwayne Wade (paraphrased conversation follows)
Cords: Dwayne... how are you?  Yeah, yeah, yeah, listen, shut up for a second... you know we're looking for a new coach and we need to put the hard sell on the guy, and we figured, well, you know with you being our top hoops alum in the NBA, and you said if we could ever use your help...
Wild: [in the background] Dammit, Bill give me the f*ing phone.

Tuesday Evening:
Introduce new pres, wine, dine, pass the time.  Slide the offer sheet across the table during cherries jubilee.  Epic game of Scattergories ensues.  Just before bed, SS asks for 48 hours to decide, and if affirmative, to tie up loose ends in Richmond.

Wednesday Morning:
Golf & lunch at Waffle House

Wednesday Afternoon:
Strong, Lovell, Wild and Cords hop on the plane back to Milwaukee.  The Shak-entourage departs back to Richmond.

Current Time:
Plane still sitting on tarmac in Richmond waiting on SS decision, flight plans for both MKE and LAX programmed into computer.

This is obviously not the first time Shaka has been through the courting process, but interesting to see how it was handled last year when considered for UCLA and Minnesota.  The rumors were eventually put to rest via a STATEMENT, as reported by ESPN:

"We're extremely thankful for the tremendous belief shown in us by Dr. Rao, Ed McLaughlin and VCU," Smart said in a statement Thursday. "We're also incredibly appreciative of the phenomenal fans that support our program and university. We are very excited about the challenges that lie ahead and the student-athletes that we have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis. Our goal will always remain to progressively move our student-athletes forward on and off the court."

Seriously, how does anyone have knowledge of where the MU private jet is going? Who knows that any of the staff are flying to VCU???  Let's get some solid facts and discussion here people !!  Rumor and conjecture gets old quickly.  What's really sad is the lack of thought that goes into many theories I have been reading on here.
