Anyone know what the typical protocol is? I know everyone but Buzz left with Crean, but is that the exception or the rule? If Howland comes in, would he try to retain Chew, Autry, for recruiting purposes or all his own guys?

Or in my dream scenario, Cords/Strong pull a rabbit out of the hat and announce the hiring of Howland as head coach and Wardle as his lead assistant, setting up a clear line of succession for the next 30 years of Marquette hoops! I like to dream big.

If I'm the new head coach, the first call I make is to TJ Otzelberger to join my staff. For those that don't know him, he is an assistant with University of Washington. He was previously with Iowa State. He is a St. Thomas more grad in Milwaukee with deep connections to the local AAU scene...Is a great recruiter.  Then I try to retain Chew on my staff and the rest of the staff is my own guys.

While Chew might want to stay with Buzz, not sure if that makes sense.  Chew's got roots in the Chicago AAU and high school circuits.  While he could start making relationships in the DC area/East coast, it would take him years to gain traction.  I think Chew stays with Marquette or stays in the midwest.

That is if the new coach will have him.

For what it's worth, ALL of Buzz's asst coaches had their offices cleaned out and were moved out today by 5:00 today.

Thanks for the info. I would think it was in Chew's best financial interest to stay.
