Malek wants to get an engineering degree, does he?

Yes, but that's because he thinks that the "tech" in Virginia Tech stands for "pyrotechnics."

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Let's not forget that Noskowiak said Marquette was his "dream school." I think he is disappointed that Buzz left but I bet he still ends up here. Same goes for Cohen and Fischer.

Flory is an MU guy I am not concerned. Duane is a popular guy alot of the younguns like him it seems so I think alot of them stay. Luke will stay as he is from here.

Todd will stay he has put up with too much at this school to leave now!

Dawson...back.
Derrick...PLEASE leave oops
Juan....ditto

All recruits God knows

I think Derrick and Juan might as well leave if they aren't going to complete a degree because the new MU coach would probably get fired if these two see any game PT.

Something tells me he didn't run that tweet past the NCAA. A business? Ridiculous. They're student athletes participating on amateur athletics.
No they're not. Get real. It is a business...period. He's right. You are being very naive.

Don't make me explain to you plainly that it is a business. He's being real...

We should not let them out of their LOI until the new coach gets to talk to them.

That is the way it works.

You guys are really an entitled bunch here. Yeah it would be cool if a kid honored a commitment but these a re 18 year old kids. What do they owe us? These kids developed a relationship with buzz and the staff. Could you imagine if you were an engineering student and suddenly half the profossers left? Wouldn't you have your doubts about going to that school until you saw how it shook out?

You think Juan would tweet so senselessly if he was staying?

Juan is gone I almost guarantee it.

Call me an idiot. Defend a guy who is awful and has done nothing for MU basketball. Woopty friggin doo.

Kid said he got paid. He is a moron and he said it on twitter. Let me be clear. He is an IDIOT.

And you sound like a hot headed kid.  Congrats, you're a moron.  Twitter wars are for kids.

I'm not one to encourage talking to recruits on Twitter, but if someone here regularly interacts with our commits it may not be a bad idea to send them a couple tweets

How many follow Buzz and/or leave? I would think we'll have a lot of scholarships available.

Nothing will happen until we name the new coach and he talks to his players.  Then things will move in a hurry.

Could be a mass exodus.  Could be minimal.  Tell me who our coach is next weekend and I'll tell you which it will be.

Let a new guy decide who he wants. Guys leaving today but change their minds when new coach comes. Change is always opportunity IMO.

They cannot leave today.  They are "under contract" via a NLI or scholarship.  They have to be formally released by MU before they can leave, and we can place restrictions on where they go (i.e., no BE or Wisc)

I know, just saying let dust settle. Lot can happen in a week period. We might be in better place next Saturday.

Personally, building a team around Bane, Duane and probably Luke (wouldn't he need to sit ANOTHER year if he left) is a great start.

I want to avoid the notion that MU basketball is always about the coach.  Nobody has a greater commitment other than Duke.  Our new coach will be very well paid, have world class facilities, fly via private jet to see recruits, and have the full attention of the Marquette community.  For whatever reason, it wasn't for Buzz anymore and he's having breakfast at Waffle House right now.  If any existing player feels the same way once the new coach is hired, that's okay too.

Depending on who the hire is, it could be brutal.    No point in obsessing about it.   Embrace the stink.

Did MU really want a kid who was kicked off his HS team?

Marquette Basketball is in trouble unless they can pull off a big name coach who can bring in his own culture and rebuild the program his way. The players didn't go to Marquette to play in Milwaukee or to play in the Bradley Center. They certainly didn't go to Marquette to play for the most 2 way fans. They went to Marquette to play for Coach Buzz. And now that Buzz and the entire coaching staff are out, players who have options are going to leave as well. The program needs to have a sense of urgency in order to retain a high level of play.
