What a phony to lecture everyone on character and then bolt a program that gave you everything and then some for crappy VT. 

This year he got weird and was no longer the mad genius I thought he was.

Have to agree. I think Buzz turned out to be a fraud and a liar. I think I dislike him more than Crean...at least we knew Crean was an ass. But we got duped by this guy. He's been trying to get out of hear for 3 years. Please take Derrick with you...it's the least u could do Buzz.

Question is.  Was he distracted by this during the season?  Not VT per say.  But distracted by the fact that he wanted out and didnt give the job his full attention.

Be careful what you wish for young Mr. Williams.  Ask your predocessors.  The grass isnt always greener....  If you succeed wildly after MU.  You just may be the first.

Whether you appreciate the job Buzz did while he was here, it is clear he is not what we thought he was or what he claimed to be.

yeah, buzz didn't have what it takes to stay here, but you can't blame a guy for advancing his career and starting fresh. There was probably a ton of stuff behind the scenes that he couldn't take anymore.  He's a D-1 coach with high ambitions. Anyone who thought he was MU guy for life was kidding themselves.

As for the whole, "I'll stay as long as they'll have me" thing, .not sure but I'm guessing he said that like 4 years ago...Does he not have the right to change his mind, like the rest of the world? He has to be held to everything he has ever said? C'mon.

I've heard he wasn't a saint for awhile now.....heard he wouldn't acknowledge Terri Mitchell in the hallways around the Al.  He didn't like having a boss so he pushed Larry Williams out (not that I agreed with Larry trying to make MU into ND with strict academic standards).  Also something happened with that sexual thing a couple years ago that was not handled well by him and his staff that got the front page of the Chicago Tribune and hurt attendance the following year.  

Let's get the right guy and try to salvage the players we have and keep some of our recruits still committed to MU next year......Cords/Wild have handled this well in the past (see Crean leaving) and I hope they will handle it well again.

Lets get real - the pressure at Marquette is high. We expect results and at Va Tech they don't. This pressure led to profuse sweating. His dry cleaning bill must have been enormous. Maybe he cannot afford to coach at Marquette.

I don't think he is who he claims to be, but he left for legit reasons.  The former will be with him for life, the latter until he jumps ship at VT or gets fired.  Unfortunately it will catch up to him.

Know what you mean...whether they made all the right choices or not, many people in the administration, on the Board, and other boosters have made some big league calls and did a lot of other work to accommodate Buzz...more than is compromised to placate the coach at all but a handful of schools that have Hall of Fame-calibur legends at the helm.  Given how committed MU is to its hoops program, there is no need to place a crown on a coach who wins for a few years.
