Civil. And accurate.

Tend to agree, though "great" is not how I would describe DWill.  Thought DWill played pretty well, not great, but pretty well.

How's this for civil...I thought we played really, really well tonight. Burton, Derrick, Mayo all had great games. We lost. They beat us. We are not that good and that's that. I look forward to an NIT bid, which I hope is forthcoming.

No matter what I do not look forward to the NIT. In some ways I would prefer to decline but know that honor dictates otherwise.

There is a great scene in one of the last episodes of Band of Brothers where the victorious Americans are driving eastward while the Wehrmacht marches westward. The Maj. Winters character notes their dignity even in defeat. There is nobility in honor that no defeat can ever erase.

I think Buzz would allow Mayo to be the guy as long as he doesn't screw-up academically, etc. I think Mayo would have played more earlier in the year if not for the ankle injury that kept him out for a week or two? And probably slowed his practice/development, plus the suspension for whatever it was, late to practice?
Mayo had a great second half of the season, but until he learns to play in control the whole game and quit trying to drive to the hole with 3 or 4 defenders there, he will still have poor games. Mayo and Burton will have to be our go to guys next year, but when Derrick is still playing 35 minutes at PG, we will struggle even more than this year.

I know how bad this board got after Providence.

Please be civil. Tough loss and a tough season. That's all I can say.

Congrats on your first post

While I don't disagree, Mayo is one of the few guys out there trying to initiate offense. Sometimes he forces it, but he's not often presented with a better alternative.

For example, at some point in the 1H last night, we were doing our usual three man weave at the top of the key and JT ended up with the ball deep into the shot clock. He couldn't find the perfect shot, so he deferred to Derrick, a high character kid that lacks the ability to run a competent D1 offense. Derrick left Todd holding the bag w/ about 3-4 seconds left on the clock, resulting in a turnover and  subsequent substitution for Todd.

We agree. If Mayo learns not to force the O when it isn't there, then he can become a really good player. He is not there quite yet.
