Well my Seton Hall friend who had no interest in this year's BET now all of a sudden is talking about tomorrow evening already.

Side note - MSG looked packed to the rafters - which was great to see...obviously lots of Nova fans made trip..but hope to see the event very well attended for semi-finals and final...as it points toward MSG continuing to be a viable venue for the event..

Hope you're right.  Always hard to tell at MSG because they are one of the few arenas that understand lighting should be on the court and not in the stands.  Barclays gets it right, as does Staples for Lakers games.  Drives me buts how well lit the BMO BC is these days.  I asked a Bucks Game Ops guy about this once and he (or more aptly Bango) said when he delivers a pizza to a 400 level fan, he wants everyone to see that.  I'm in sports sponsorship for a living and I still couldn't handle that excuse.

I miss the MECCA.

If the A10 is the comparison point for the Big East, the league is in worse shape than you think.

Marquette, St. John's, Georgetown, Seton Hall. All mediocre teams. It's a down year, it happens.

But now many of the Nova fans will go home.  Hmm, maybe I'll venture down from my western MA home for Saturday night's MU game! Tickets will be available and cheap. ;)

Part of me wants Creighton to lay an egg against DePaul to make it that much easier for us to have a shot.  But the other part of me wants Creighton again...I think we can take them on one day's rest (for them and us).

First things first...let's get up early on Xavier and cruise to a solid win.

Nah. You want Creighton to lay an egg. A PC type egg. Dougie down sick along with Wragge type egg. In fact, don't show up type egg.

MU ain't in need of a pretty win to bolster a resume. They're in need of winning the Tournament. Thus, we want that road to be the easiest possible path it can be so godspeed DePaul and pray that Hall wins tomorrow night.

That's right. Even the idea of getting a 'good' win right now doesn't matter. I highly doubt that beating Creighton en route to a tournament victory would give MU any higher seed than if it wins by beating Depaul en route to the championship. So, go Depaul and make our path a bit easier!

Announcers were actually saying in the 2nd half that the fans were starting to pour into MSG for the 2nd game

Yeah, you both are right.  But still...nah, never mind.  You're both right. :)

In the eyes of some writers, it is.  Some have more A-10 teams in than BE teams.  I think that is ludacris and oblivious of anyone who follows college hoops, but it seems you may be agreeing with them.

The NCAA is full of mediocre teams.  League is better than its perception is all I'm saying.

Down go the Johnnies....so much for their BET run and deep March run, onto vacation for Mr. Lavin and his hoop squad

Not before he signs that extension and takes his bonus which he should owe all to Gene Keady

FS1 and the Big East cannot be particularly happy...losing Georgetown, St. John's and Villanova in the first 18 hours. Marquette probably the next biggest marquee name left.

On side note.  Louisville beat Rutgers 92 to 31.  Jeez, 61 point defeat.

A riveting future ACC/Big Ten match-up taking place in a wasteland conference--albeit a pretty decent one this year. Next.

(Holy crap...that's ugly)

Saw this posted on twitter this morning regarding yesterday's attendance.  It was posted in rebuttal of espn's diatribe...

"Last nite attendance. BE- 13,177, AAC- 4,815, ACC- 10,945, A10- 3,845. All opening round. Big East Requiem? Uh, no ESPN. No."

So, are these numbers like last year's conference-on-steroids Big East?  No.  Is it still respectable?  Very much so.

What people are missing is that there are many people who just go to the Big East tournament, because it's an event and a fun place to enjoy a $10 beer.  This will still hold true on Fri and Sat nights this year.  What will probably get hurt the most by the St Johns and Nova losses are the prices on the secondary ticket market.  Had St John's won, they would have gone up quite a bit... now they will likely soften.

Nothing to be ashamed of.

And if MU gets to Sat night, I'm leaning towards road tripping to take advantage of them there soft prices.

10 minutes into the Depaul/Creighton game. Creighton already 6/9 from 3. McDermott and Manigat both 3/4

update: 7/10, mcDermott 4/5

Sounds like Depaul stole our strategy. Shut down the lane and make them shoot 3s.

Brilliant!!

6 shot attempts inside the arc. 13 3-point attempts.

Let's Go Warriors

Creighton sets a lot of moving picks away from the ball.

very interesting technique.  They allow the defender to push through easily to avoid the foul call.  But slide in the way of the defender at the last second.  Should be a foul...

Flip side. First four game decided by a total of 11 points. Great atmosphere in MSG. Other than the Big 12, I'm not seeing that in the other leagues so far.
