Ended a 10 game losing streak by beating Seton Hall at home.

Good for them.  Now watch them win two or three in a row and save Purnell's arse.

keefe

How could they possibly justify keeping Purnell? Even if they run the table they have had another atrocious season.

Losing by winning.

Good for DePaul. Their young guards are very good. If they were in the MVC or Horizon they'd be considered good. But in the Big East they stink. It's all relative.

Three words.  Billy Garrett Jr.

Did the fan(s) rush the court?

I know at the Marquette game, they had security and police in place for that possibility.
Have some patience, FFS.

I watched it on TV and I would be shocked if there were 1,000 people there. I hand counted about 15 students.

They have to give him like 1/2 of the basketball team's budget for the next four years or so whether he's there or not.  Does DePaul have a Dick Strong to bail them out?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

With Purnell gone, there's a good chance that they lose him, and he's the best player they've had there in some time.

Great, so they'll win 6 games with him. Hes not exactly Dwayne Wade. They need a complete rebuild...again. To hang onto Purnell because of once decent player doesn't accomplish much.

He's owed like $6-7 million on the contract, so it it very safe to assume the buyout is significantly less than that.

LOL - Nope...learned a lesson after the MU game...and I've never felt Seton Hall is very good.  But, if it makes you feel better...I did take a pretty good hit betting on St. John's last night...didn't see that coming.

But..I did win quite nicely on Wichita over Bradley...moneyline and against the line...were only giving 12...

I treat St. John's like an NBA team.  Never bet on a game they are playing in.  They are either extremely hot and blow out someone in what you think will be a competitive game or extremely cold and lose to someone you think they have no business being in a game with.

Probably a good philosophy on St. Johns - they had just been trending so well - was hard to bet against them at home to X, coming off the egg X laid at GTown.  I generally like to only bet on the moneyline (pick the winner) for a lower return than picking against the line...and that's how I bet them last night.

To your NBA point...totally agree.  I never bet NBA..don't bet anything other than college hoop...although early non conference college football can offer some good probabilities for return...do 3-4 team parlay on moneyline picking heavy favorites...

GOO

Let's hope DePaul doesn't replace him.  I would fear that one of our assistants with Chicago ties would be a top candidate.

I think that Sultan might be correct that a hire with Marquette ties would probably be too tough a pill to swallow for DePaul fandom.  Kind of like an AD from ND at Marquette.  Since Lenti-Ponsetto is married to that Ponsetto, she'd hear about it at home, if she was considering it.

Pretty sound strategy overall.  I do like to bet against the line when I see lines that to me seem way too generous 1 way or another.

I was at the game.  We actually jokingly brought up the question about whether or not a visiting teams fans ever rushed the court because of all the yellow there.

T-Bone

I believe that leaves DePaul at 10-100 in BE play over the last 5 years.  Something around there.  I remember the announcers saying in the MU game that it would be DePaul's 10th win or 100th loss.
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

That would be nice if that was the case... but I suspect that will be a minor point in trying to get the right person for the job.    Getting someone from Chicago, would likely be a bigger positive for DePaul.
