Glad to see Marquette University Tweeted that an alum is reporting from Sochi. Someone named Trenni or Tranni. I guess that is more noteworthy than acknowledging its student athletes who are actually participating.

Sometimes the University behaves in third rate ways.

I contrast Marquette's complete lack of coverage with the University of Michigan which has eight athletes participating at Sochi. I have received updates on the performance of each Michigan athlete as they compete in the Games. Alumni received articles that provided biographical sketches, etc...

Why would Marquette champion a journalist alum at Sochi yet completely ignore its athletic competitors? Bizarre.

You don't know Trenni Kusnierek?  I thought all alumni knew her.

Though that actually further proves your point - all alumni  don't know our athletes completing in the games, and they should be making sure we do.

The Mu athlete at the Olympics isn't "technically" a full-time student. He has been taking less than 12 credits since his time here. He is a sophomore in standing, but is 23 years old. So maybe that will explain why they don't cover him.

GGGG

So because he isn't full time, you don't mention it?  Uhh...no.

But he is, in fact, a Marquette student. The Michigan students at Sochi are taking the year off from school to compete but are still embraced by the University and their participation is correctly applauded.

If Marquette can highlight an alum covering the Games they sure as hell can champion a member of the Marquette family competing in those same Olympics.

I wasn't taking the piss out of you, north. I just think it is ridiculous Marquette doesn't get honoring its own, much less simple branding.

One of my first impressions of Marquette was seeing the life sized photo of Ralph Metcalf in his Berlin Olympics kit at the Old Gym during my first registration. I thought that was something and it made me proud to be joining his community.

Impossible. Mine has had a mind of its own since I was 11.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I completely agree that it's a farce they aren't saying anything or doing anything. But when he's taking 3-7 credits a semester, it makes it somewhat understandable. Not justifiable, but understandable.

Well if they can publicize Todd's exploits they can do the same for our Olympian.
