Bulls guard Jimmy Butler had quite the night in Wednesday's triple-overtime victory over the Orlando Magic.

Butler played in 60 minutes, setting a franchise regular-season record for minutes played in a single game.

The third-year guard also filled up the stat sheet. He finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.

His line in the box score was so spectacular that he broke Yahoo's scoreboard.

ZiggysFryBoy

Wrong.  JFB did all that in 18 seconds.

lurch91

And Chuck Norris was impressed.

bilsu

Projecting his stats over a full 48 minutes that is only 16.8 pts and 5.6 rebounds.

No.  Projecting his 16 second stats over a full 48 minutes gives him 302.4 points and 100.8 rebounds.  Nice game for JFB

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

WellsstreetWanderer

Correction!  Chuck Norris says if he were ever to be impressed this would be a candidate.

You tealed this to make sure the rest of us knew you were being sarcastic, but I actually like the "realness" of your short comment.

It illustrates nicely how per-minute stats often offer little insight. Butler played 60 minutes, showed himself to be a true warrior and helped will his team to a triple-OT victory. Other than the 60-minute stat itself, stats he put up in the game do not reflect how valuable he was last night. Every coach wants a player like that, despite what eFG and assist-per-minute and other "new-fangled" stats might say about Butler's performance.

Agreed.  JFB's coach chose to play him for 60 minutes for a reason...and it extends far beyond points and rebounds.

Way to represent, Jimmy!

He's a beast.  He was an ironman in the playoffs last year too when he played 3 or 4 straight games without sitting a minute.
It's a great marriage of player and coach.

Eldon

Yea, JFB should get some credit for this feat...i guess. But all this praise should really be directed at his JUCO coach

went to Bucks/Bulls on 10th Jan to watch JFB play.  He ALWAYS guards the opposing team's top offensive threat (between 5'10 and 6'10), doesn't foul yet plays tough.  Bucks are not much this year, but his defense was fun to watch.

And projects to 3,040 points, 1,120 rebounds, and 960 assists.  His teammates' inability to hit 40 more shots cost him the triple quadruple.

Part of this is Thibs. That's how he plays guys. Lots of complaints over the last couple years when he would have the starters still in the game up 20 with 5 minutes left.

Eldon

50 more minutes in today's game in OT.

At this rate, he'll catch Robert Parish's career minutes by the end of this season!
