10 points (4-9), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals all career highs.  Played 18 minutes and no turnovers.  Good news is the opportunity opened up because Toronto was short-handed after the Gay trade.  Bad news is Greivis Vasquez is incoming and likely to send him back down the depth chart.

Reports are that Toronto acquired Vasquez with the intention of dealing Lowry, so it could eventually be good news for Dwight.

Just came here to post about Buycks.  Great to see.  Novak also had 6points to boot.

Anyone know how long Buycks's contract is?  I want to say it was only 1 year, but I'm not sure.

2 years, $1.52 million

Great see some action from Buycks.  Novak has been fairly steady over the past 2-3 seasons, but still glad to see him perform as well.

I'll root for Toronto as long as one, or both, of the players are there.

Novak has done anything but perform this year. He has been horrible sadly.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

Let's hope that with Vasquez on board Toronto doesn't say (wait for it) - "Nomorebuycks."

Indeed.  But even if TO let him go, I recall OKC showing strong interest in Buycks (above and beyond simply being on the summer league roster) as was some other team (Boston?)

Raptors aren't gettin' rid of a cheap, young, point guard with an upside. Besides they jumped to sign him quicker than cockroaches skatter in F*ckin's kitchen when the lights are turned on.

They also waived DJ Augustin who had dropped behind Buycks on the depth chart.

Augustin was a far better player than Buycks in college. Great improvement from Dwight.

Talk of Bulls picking up Augustin.

Augustin was better because he was used more.  Dwight had a better FG%, 3FG% and was a better rebounder.   Augustin clearly looked like he had a higher upside, but that obviously didn't pan out...

Freeport Warrior

That's good to see. I looked up his stats a few days ago and saw he had quite a few DNPs the last few weeks. If I recall, Wes shooting % was in the mid-50s and Dwight was in the low 20s. Good to see him get it back up into to the 30s.

MUSF

I always knew Dwight would make it in the Association some day.

Just kidding.

Of all the MU players experiencing success in the NBA, Dwight is the most surprising. I hope he continues to get opportunities this year.

Buycks would be very lucky to get any PT in OKC IMO. Toronto seems like they're beginning to tank with the Rudy Gay trade and now rumors of Lowry being shopped. Buycks would probably get the most minutes on a tanking team like Toronto, so hopefully he stays there.

77ncaachamps

Novak is in a bad situation: the team isn't built for a 3pt shooter, unlike the Knicks were.

Bargnani had the 3 pt range but he could hold his own in the paint; Steve can't.

I hope Steve gets traded to a team like SAN (where he did have a brief stint), MIA (where he can fulfill a role), or GSW (again, a role).
