GGGG

I have no recollection of those games in '93 and '94.  How did a KO team manage to score 86 points?

T-Bone

I remember the '93 game.  Yelling at Funderburke throughout the game.

The Lens

I don't remember the 94 game at all (Deane's first year)  but that 1993 game was when KO's S16 team lost down in San Juan and then lost at home to UWGB.  We had Illinois and Ohio State coming and thought it would be a long december but we took both.

I had zero recollection of that @tOSU game.   It makes sense that we played but...

Worst officiated MU game in history!!!

Wasn't that the only game Meminger fouled out of throughout his entire high school, college and pro career?

Who did McGuire inbound the ball to on that last play?  Somehow I've forgotten.  On purpose.

The Love House

Just to get people fired up for this game, I've attached an article I found in the 1971 Milwaukee Journal archives. Some interesting facts about the game:

1) Snapped a 39 game winning streak
2) Was the only loss in an incredible 62-1 stretch from Feb 1970 to Feb 1972
3) Al McGuire was named AP Coach of the Year the same day
4) The Warriors would bounce back in their "consolation" game 2 days later by thrashing arch nemesis Adolph Rupp and #8 Kentucky 91-74
5) Team was never ranked lower than #2 in the country after Jan 12, including being ranked #1 for two weeks ahead of John Wooden's UCLA team
6) Team wore the iconic Bumble Bee jerseys for the game

Also attached is a photo of the game from the university archives.

Go Warriors!!!

So for those who go back that far....

1. Was the play to have Allie get the ball back or did Mills panic?

2.  Why didn't Al have the team practice Free Throws, 11 for 21?

4everwarriors

The ball was obviously goin' back to Allie after his inbound pass. Spider treated it like a hot potato and couldn't wait to get rid of the thing, probably sensin' someone would either tie him up or knock the sucker out of his hands. Problem was McGuire wasn't fully inbounds yet when he received the rock back.

I had no idea that the Rainbow Classic (pre-Maui days) went back to 1967!
